Konami has released first artwork from Metal Gear Solid Ground Zero, the Fox Engine game that was revealed at today's Metal Gear anniversary event. Check out the image here:

According to Famitsu.com's report from today's event, Metal Gear Solid Ground Zero is the name of the real time demo Kojima Productions showed at the event. But it is also being made into an actual open world game.

Ground Zero targets current generation specifications, with the demo running on a PC at the level of PS3 and Xbox 360. Famitsu reports that Kojima Productions is also working on next generation development.

I saw there was this, a mobile network game (with graphics close to Peace Walker's), and the reconfirmation that Colombia Pictures/Sony is working on a Metal Gear Solid film still. Not bad announcements.

I KNEW it was going to be open world! Fuck yeah! Kojima gets to show game developers how to make an open world game where I actually give a flying fuck about the character and story for a change.(Yes, that's a potshot at Elderscrolls, Fallout. Sue me).

Could that be. . .Old Snake in the corner? There certainly seems to be some thematic going on about dual identities. From the poster itself being flipped, to FOX and XOF, to the quote in the poster referencing Big Boss's and Zero's split--something's going on.

Whatever it means, I'm just glad to have Kojima back fucking around with people's heads again. Too much fun.
