edit: DIfferent day though, oh well. Got to see Nolan North do a pump taunt live last year. Very down to earth and funny guy.Last edited by Dracarys; 09-13-2012, 06:10 AM.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

Only need look at other current gen games to know the limits. Proper open world games do not come with those levels of graphics on consoles, they can't. The trailer is either run on PC and the actual game will look like shit in comparison or else the world is going to be broken up into rather small sections. I expect at best something the size of Groznyj Grad.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

So basically; you're speculating and don't really know anything. Also, the trailer was run on PC, "at PS3 level". Take from that whatever you will.Last edited by News Bot; 09-13-2012, 08:05 AM.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

As for the level of detail, MGS4 STILL looks impressive to this day and we're over 4 years since the launch of that game, which utilizes tech I'm sure Kojima Productions have managed to polish even further, and a lot of the stuff seen in that Ground Zeroes trailer boils down to stuff that's handled by shader effects, effective use of level of detail and solid art-direction.
Assuming everything gameplay-wise is "mostly" set on foot, without free access to vehicles and such, that level of detail is not really a problem on current gen consoles. You see it in plenty of games, just not with such a well handled art direction. The system doesn't have to fetch assets at the same speed an open world game with fast-traveling vehicles has to and scaling what's loaded isn't really a problem either in open world games (like how GTA and such drops loading litter on the streets the moment you start driving, since those are details you don't "need" for the visual experience when you're driving)
What you're seeing in that trailer is pretty much no more impressive than something like RAGE (which despite certain pop-in issues on some setups, looks disgustingly beautiful most of the time - thanks to texture variety and art direction - while maining a steady 60 FPS framerate) , or the Gordiant fight in Lost Planet 2, where you have full rain effects, dynamic lights, lighning strikes acting as a secondary light source for shadows, hundreds (if not even thousands) of on-screen pieces of animated grass affected by general wind and the shockwaves from weapons and the Gordiant's actions.

Well, Kojima has clarified what the loading screens in GZ are, plus revealed new info. There will be "many grand-theft-auto style open worlds." And the demo that was shown off is the prologue to the game, so it's smaller than most of the other "worlds."
Loading is always done in the background, so it’s basically an open world where loading screens do not exist.
The exception to this is when you travel by helicopter—there a loading screen will be inserted.
There will be many Grand Theft Auto-style open worlds, and these are connected by helicopter.
The video that has been released is of the prologue stage, so it’s a small open world. There are bigger ones.
The game has a concept of time, so it varies from morning to afternoon, and then to night in real time. [This could mean "game time," I'm not sure.]
Before using the FOX Engine on other titles going forward, they want to create the standard with open worlds.During a special stage event at the Tokyo Game Show today, Kojima Productions shared new details on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.
Just glad to know the engine actually streams the game, and the only loading screens are in-between helicopter hopping between maps. Hella awesome!Last edited by valentinesdead?; 09-21-2012, 11:57 AM.sigpic

So, Metal Gear Solid V = Ground Zeroes = Phantom Pain
Ground Zeroes is meant to be a prelude story, kind like MGS3 Virtuous Mission, then Phanton Pain is its Snake Eater, except a massive time gap inbetween them. At least from what I gather from various second hand info.
Oh, and trailer.
