It is great. Actually makes the ending of the game a little less retarded. I mean, you've got Raiden walking around as a fucking head and spine. Yet Big Boss specifically needs to be melded together like a fucking Build-A-Bear from parts of his clones. Having Madnar (already a tie-in with Snatcher and hinted at in MGS4 to be doing all sorts of Snatchery things) retrofit Big Boss's body makes a shitload more sense in a series where barely any exists anymore.

But then you have the problem about just how was Solid Snake able to "kill" Big Boss with a makeshift flamethrower if he was an artificial body? What's up with the artwork featuring a thin, "dead" Big Boss? Also Big Boss had already lost his right eye yet the Database says he lost it to Snake.

Basically Kojima is a hack when it comes to writing. His ability in that department has collapsed in on itself.

It made more sense than him just appearing after apparently being killed twice before, including being set on fire. I was quite happy with that explination.

Also it's the point of having the database which is good. If you're going to bitch about retcons or the explanations then you might as well quit the series. I can't see it changing.

The "External Gazer" Snake Tale makes more sense than the entire series, and it's fucking crazy.

Damn you NB for ruining MGS for me!. I can't look at the series the same way.

Oh Jesus I was trying to forget that existed. The database is horrible.

As for this... when they started naming Peace Walker characters in the newest trailer it just destroyed my interest. Kojima should have just retired after Snake Eater.

Stealth adventure Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will include loading screens as players sneak about its open world ma…

Oh well, was a nice idea while it lasted. SUre they could be really large areas between loads, like GTA Vice City had between islands, but looking at the visuals of this game and what we've seen in other current gen games it will probably be Peace Walker all over.

                    Peace Walker isn't open-world.

That is the point, it has many connecting areas that offer multiple paths like an open world game, but since they all loading screens apart...it isn't open world.

It really doesn't. It's no more open-world than MGS2 and even at that, trying to compare a game scaled to the PSP to a game scaled for the PS3 is pretty silly. We don't know when these loading screens occur in GZ. We do know that you can literally take a helicopter to a completely different country at any point in the game, so it is possible that the loading screens are reserved for those segments. Far too early to judge it with such a lack of information.

                          Regarding the "open world" comment;

Yes. Loading areas, bla bla bla.

What I'm reading from it (and seeing in the brief gameplay in the video) is that it IS "open." Not "loading between connected areas"-type of open, not "go wherever you want"-type of open either, but "large areas with plenty of room for multiple approaches"-types of open. You know, something that has been completely absent from the series, regardless of how you want to twist and turn it. Know how Assassin's Creed is open world? Seen how some of the missions do things in those games? Sometimes they either put you in a seperate instance or they lock off specific regions/areas for a mission, leaving you with still an insane amount of freedom in regards to how you handle the situation. That's the kind of open I'm expecting to see.

MGS3-4 + Portable Ops and Peace Walker all left a sour taste in my mouth, but this kinda seems a promising ... and I'm not just saying that 'cause they got around to using a non-re-arranged version of Ennio Morricone's Here's to you (Strangely enough, I've got a bit of renowned faith in the MGS franchise after Platinum games got to take over production of Revengeance)

Carn - I can understand 4, PO, and PW... but MGS3? Really? That left a sour taste? That I find very surprising.

Considering that you're going around the world, that's not a surprise at all. Or was he referring to the levels themselves?

Kojima is apparently planning a surprise for Eurogamer Expo in two weeks. Most likely more footage of GZ, which would certainly be enough for me. Hopefully some real gameplay gets mixed in this time(and clarification on the speculation of the type of loading the game will have)
