I must admit, I'm intrigued to see what Mikami does on this. If this horror game involves jet packing through strange mutants while kung-fu-actioning them to death his prehensile cock then I think it's fair to start laying some of the issues with Resident Evil at Mikami's door. If it creeps me the fuck out then I can blame Capcom's current batch of developers.
Also, I still want to organize a death match between Uwe Boll and Anderson. Whichever one dies, we win...and so does the movie industry.

Either he's going after WESTERN GAMERS (you know what they like- Mikami does too) or Survival/horror fans.Stuff to remember: Avoid forums if you're having a bad day.

What's worse is all the weirdos putting their money into the guy's face and screaming for more.
On topic... I'm not even sure what the last Shinji Mikami game was that I even played since RE4. Was it Vanquish? I like Vanquish. So more on that level of gameplay quality would be great, if they can just get some writers who are not useless...

It may not seem practical in all honesty, but its better than the WWE wrestling moves that started to pop up in 5, and 6.
There's a reason so many Japanese horror movies have the main character wearing a school girl uniform, after all (other than all the other reasons for having young ladies in school girl uniforms...thanks, Japan) and that's because it's so natural to have the character fearful and panicky. Which in turn transfer to the watcher.
Of course, having a trained fighter can work, but you need to show the skill and weapons they've got are either not really adequate or are just barely enough to keep them alive, and even then it's iffy. Rob them of the confidence that a shadow kick to the back of the head followed by a cock walloping is going to see them through.
But yeah. it's a lot better than a Powerbomb on a zombie.

But feel free to tell me when a giant underwater Umbrella facility simulating global outbreaks in different major environments happened in the games, or when the Executioner and majini-like zombies ambushed Claire and Chris in a prison, or when any of the characters took refuge in Alaska after visiting Vegas, or when or when or when.
Edit: (And no, this is not me defending the movies because I like them. I couldn't care less how people feel about them. I'm just showing that you shouldn't complain about something that isn't happening.)
And this is starting to get off track, so I think if you'd like to continue this, we should do so either in the appropriate thread or via PM. Gotta get back on topic.
Honestly? I have a feeling Mikami still has one game left in him. I really hope he puts his heart into this, as a really good directorial sendoff. I have faith, but I'll still keep my thoughts in check because I have been burned before on "scary" games.Last edited by Canas Renvall; 11-08-2012, 03:19 PM.

I'm still waiting for "that game". A survival-horror game where I'll be able to feel the exact same sense of panic, danger, fear and mystery than with the original RE back then. I know it seems unlikely, but still, when I see that Mikami wants to create a real survival horror I instantly look forward to it.
Mikami is a very talented developper and he made some incredibly atmospheric and special games.

in little words for noobs like me, what was the mikami's importance in the games he didnt direct? becuz personally, i think RE2, CV, Zero are as good as the games he directed, like RE1, Remake and 4. i must be crazy, but i think RE0 is totally awesome, and its director is never mentioned.
and correct me if i mistaked some examples.

He's very creative, but I don't think he makes "better" games so to speak.

Personally Zero was horrible, but that is irrelevant. His importance was probably as the ideas guy - the gameplay elements from 1 and then 4 were the innovations, and the parts which fed the rest of the series. You're saying you didn't notice a difference, well of course they didn't go off on a random idea after he left, they used what worked.
