But Dead Space 1-2 became Easy Mode on all difficulties the moment you realized that the ticket to victory was to just upgrade the Force Gun to max capacity and then either spend the rest of your upgrades on the Plasma Cutter or the Pulse Rifle. The Force Gun is like a giant "FUCK YOU" button when it's upgraded and in the case where it doesn't shout loud enough, it at least buys you a few seconds of extra time. Kinda hoping the weapon creation system in Dead Space 3 makes for more interesting "FUCK ALL!" solutions.
You poor soul, I was regretting paying off CV:Mirror of Fate instead of getting Aliens...until it was released of course

Just finished my run of classic mode so I could unlock the devil horns the other day. Gotta say, much like the foam finger from DS2, while it looks silly, necromorphs will bow to your god-like power lol. If anyone needs any help getting trophies just let me know (PSN:Itchy_Tasty_1996). I found that in order to get the "Hungry" trophy, it's best to not throw shit to distract the feeders like Ackerman's audio log suggests. Simply stay crouched, do not aim/shine your flashlight and move through the dark.

Anyone else pumped for the DLC chapters coming next month? Visceral says the new chapters will be the darkest and most terrifying necromorph encounters yet, possibly to make up for the toned down horror/gore in DS3. Sounds tasty.

Biggest complaint with DS3, the use of the Hunters.

WEll, I haven't said anything until now since ever since it was revealed but since I have beaten it, I can say that while it's the weakest Dead Space yet, it's still a better game then RE6.

        The Story
        In regards of this Spoiler:

        Carver
While I still believe Ellee should have been the co-op character, I was suprised how much I started to like him at the end but despite feeling the feels on the last hours of the longest ass final level ever, it never exactly flourishes as they depicted since, well, most of the time, you don't play with him but I suppose it may be if you played the entire thing in co-op to enable that same connection as players got with Ellee in 2 but that's just me.

        - The human enemies
Yeah, that would have been nice if IT WASN'T FOR THE FACT THAT, FOR SOME REASON, THEY'LL WASTE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD KILLING EACH OTHER, OR WORST: GO AFTER ME EVEN IF THEY NEVER SEE ME WITH ALL THE VIGOR THAT HAVE! I swear, Visceral never ended up getting their shit together when it came to AIs fighting each other.

The horror is barely there anymore but it still feels like Dead Space if that makes sense? It's as much Dead Space as 2 was anyway. It still has its moments of jump scares of course (and some that got my friend a couple of times which warranted a good laugh) that everybody comes to expect. I actually really enjoyed the planet atmosphere and setting. Definitely reminded me of John Carpenter's The Thing at parts. I wish Visceral would have included some easter eggs such as a guy with his wrists slit in one of the bases you come across. It would have been amazing and certainly would have fit the game.
I'll have to admit, I never actually thought of the Thing or reminded of anything. Still it was spooky with those weird monster echoes but...this correlates with the monsters in the game but that's the other weak thing about it: it lacked new ones. Like it seems like they given up on adding a whole slew of them compared to 2 and I realized this over playing half way through the game. This is very evident at the end of the game where it felt like I was fighting my way through a hall of fame of all the regular Necros I've faced in my 3 adventures.

        - Music: I loved the soundtrack to this game. I especially love how one of the tracks has a very clear homage to the Alien theme in it. Definitely plan on picking up the soundtrack at some point.
I'm amazed they were pretty much using the same scores most of the time but it's still amazing stuff. Though the best forward epic score was in the credits; I'm surprised it wasn't used at any sort of climax at the end.

        - Upgrades suits, and weapon crafting: If there was any kind of complaint I had for this game, it would be that the power nodes are gone. The circuits just weren't the same. Also I don't understand why the Advanced suit wasn't included in this game. I loved it in 2. The suits in 3 are probably the weakest in the series to me although I didn't necessarily hate some of them. As for the weapon crafting, I had a love/hate thing for it. I loved that I could make my dream gun but I hated how it kept making me go back to the bench every 5 seconds to try something new. I'm a very indecisive person.
I'm surprised they didn't make the Artic survival suit the final suit in the game since they've been promoting it as teh main suit Isaac wears in the game. Also, I've come to realize that all the actual guns were really intended for the human enemies because it really doesn't make sense why any player would actually want to fight necros with them (even I wanted to keep using my double revolver so badly). Also, saw blades and fire and electricity that isn't cranked up to 11 or as used as an alternative firing mechanism still suck. I also didn't like they didn't give you visual indicates of the limits your weapon actually has on it's stats or why you can't just collect your bot parts while inside the bench. I also came to the conclusion that the hidden caches are infinite as so long you leave the game then actual hidden parts.

I jsut beat the game for the 5th time. I haven't done hardcore yet as the requirements for it are stupid. I have 10 guns in the safe and they are maxed out. The pulse riffle is probably the msot powerful gun int he game and when you have: 3 damage, 3 reload, 3 clip, and 3 rate of sire, well, anything you shoot at dies in a burst or so. I beat Impossible mode twice already and only used a few med packs. The game is so easy with maxed pulse riffle + shotgun and planet cracker plasma cutter + revolver. That plasma cutter is also machine gun fast when you use 4 rate of fire +3. But if you use damage +3/rof +3 and clip+3, that gun is probably the second best.

          Here's my Pulse rifle schematic:
          - Heavy S.C.A.F. Frame
          - 2x Military Engine
          - 2x MKV Damage Support
          - MKV Repeater
          - MKV Conic Dispersal
          - 2x Rate of Fire +3/ Reload +3 (Lower Tool)
          - 2x Damage +3/ Reload +3 (Lower Tool)
          - 2x Rate of Fire +3/Clip +3 (Upper Tool)
          - 2x Damage +3/ Rate of Fire +3 (Upper Tool)

Try this out and tell me it isn't the strongest weapon available next to the Devil Horns.

Are you saying the limits go over what it displays? Wow that sucks, and yeah I agree that stat indictator seemed very odd at times - they should either add numbers to it or a much meatier bar rather than tiny little half bars you can hardly see.. At least with the power node system it was very clear. Wow I added a circuit that changed a tiny little millimeter of my bar AWESOME, i can fucking kill everything now.

The game is pretty solid but rather disappointing overall, nearly finished.. Not sure if I'll go through it again, maybe once more.. or see what the DLC is like.

No, they don't show you the limits but you when you notice a Reload +2 gives little much to one gun while giving a huge boost another, you can tell when your gun has reached it's limits on a certain attribute. They just don't showcase a vertical line on how much you can max a attribute out.

So after a month, I have to say DS3 is my favorite game of the last few years. The gameplay is excellent, the weapon crafting/testing is addictive, and the story isn't so bad.

Now I did beat Awakened, and it's great. It's the bloodiest chapter of DS3 and is eerie as hell. So if you want my take on it with spoilers, click the spoiler tag below.

Awakened is good, but I still don't know if I like DS3 as a whole or not. By the way things are shaping, they are turning the next Dead Space into Mass Effect 3...

The Necromorphs are killing people and turning them in monsters so that people don't kill each other by turning themselves into monsters.

Well I cleared Hardcore Mode today long with Classic Mode and got the Devil Horns. FUCK. They are the Mary Sue of weapons. The damage bar is maxed but you can further max it out. It kills everything in 1 hit on Impossible Mode. Damn, and you can trade it to your partner in co-op.

Anyone wanna play co-op with me on the PS3 version? I'll gladly pass the Devil Horns on to you along with it maxed with RoF/Damage +3's.
