Well, I'll certainly be picking it up on day 1. At least the Collector's Edition is a sensible price for what you get. As for the game itself even if it is just a 7/10 game I'll still be happy. As a rabid Aliens fan the environment of LV-426 alone and the nostalgic links back to the movie is enough for me.

I want it to be amazing, don't get me wrong, I'm still waiting for a team to top what Rebellion did with the Marine campaign in the original PC AVP, as nothing has ever captured 'Aliens' as well as that.

@ Scream - Loved Alien Trilogy back in the day. Even if the plot was weird as hell, the atmosphere was good and the weapons were the first time anyone were seemingly on the right track until the PC AVP game shortly after.

@ Dracarys - I figure both AvP 2010 and Gearbox pushing it back are to blame, the latter has done Borderlands, DNF, and Borderlands 2 in the time. DNF especially probably impacted on it seeing as they picked that up and turned it around in a shorter time just to get it done and put as many staff as they could just to finish according to what I remember reading. Plus even though it was announced Dec 06 who knows when they actually started.

I didn't enjoy the last Aliens vs. Predator for consoles. IMO, it was quite boring. The gameplay was tedious and I think making such a scripted game can hurt (the gameplay).

Which is something that worries me about the new trailer for this game. It seems the gameplay will be compromised to fit the scripted events and plotline. Sorta like when they make a game based on a movie. The gameplay suffers because it has to stay within the limits of the story.

I love the Alien universe (more than the Predator one), but the game needs to be a good one. And watching some of the behind the scenes videos of this game, it seems the producers are more interested in making a movie-like sequel to Aliens than making an interesting game that plays like one.

          I dunno... we'll see.

Still waiting for a good follow up to Aliens Vs Predator '99 and Monolith's AvP 2. Rebellion's last attempt was terrible. I doubt this will be it.

So I pre-ordered it at Gamestop, the Special Edition. The good thing is - it didn't have to be decided right there which platform, PS3 or Xbox360. Lately I've been comparing framerates for several games on both consoles, and most of the time it is in favor of Xbox360. So will wait for release date and some comparison statistics, and then pick it up.

By the way it's crazy how long this game had been in production, I remember noticing an article about it in some magazine in summer 2008.

Usually, multiplatform games look better on the 360, when said console is the lead platform. Gearbox has denied that there is a lead platform, though.

However, Gearbox did say that the Wii U version actually was "one of the best looking versions of the game" And "It's pretty clear to us that the best-looking console version of Aliens: Colonial Marines is going to be on the Wii U". But it's all about framerates, right? not looks.

I think the Wii U and PS3 will look better than the 360 version. But they will suffer a bit when it comes to framerates and screen tearing. So the 360 version could be the one that ends up playing better. ... Or not. We'll see.

                  ANYWAY...NEW TRAILER - BRAND NEW!

EDIT: Maybe it's just me... but I didn't like that they recycled so much stuff from the Aliens flick. Like that part near the end of the video. But then again it has "Aliens" in the title so... maybe that's to be expected.

I can reassure you that that entire retarded voiceover in the trailer will not feature in the game.

Yeah I saw the game writer take to twitter to say the voice over was not from the game. Go go marketing "genius" - bad move from Sega. Saw lots of people complaining and being put off.

That VO is utter shit! Seriously, what the hell were they thinking?! This is another game I'm just not expecting much from at all. It looks the part but put a turd in an "Aliens" case and it too will look the part, at least a first. It's likely the dialogue will grate before the second playthrough, the set-pieces will be tired and the multiplayer looks like budget Left4Dead. Much like the last AvP game . . . is it just me that finds it depressing they haven't improved on the template from 1999!

the graphics looks like a NES game compared to the AVP 2010. textures are equal to zero.

What's starting to grate with me is that fact that every interview Gearbox give they drone on about how they are adding to the official canon of the series. It's like; 'Ooh, I can't believe I'm actually adding to the canonical life cycle of the creature. I can't believe our story is going to be an official part of the universe.'

They don't seem to understand that no one is going to take this game as canon, even if it does turn out OK.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to what they come up with.

Sounds like a cross between Jack Nicholson and Duke Nukem.

To each his own, but I would always choose a stable framerate over higher polygon count or better shadows/other effects. And yes you're right multiplatform games usually end up running smoother on 360. Luckily some game don't have a lead platform and their performance shines on both consoles. Dead Space series is a good example of that. But in some cases the games end up running better on 360 either way even if the developer claims they were giving no preference and each version was developed simultaneously. Enslaved by Ninja Theory is an example of that. Guess it depends on how well the team can optimize game's engine to a certain platform. Will see how it plays out for Aliens.

Also in regards to that trailer, I think it is almost cliche nowadays for any action-oriented game to have a dubstep trailer. It's like a must, no way around it.
