AVP 2010 I didn't find too awful, apart from keeping to story aspects Anderson established. I remember having a lot of fun with it. But again, they have you fighting combat synthetics or whatever the fuck they are, and those bits are shit.

Kinda like AVP2, (which despite the great story doesn't have a good a gameplay as AVP 2000), but again it has you fighting humans for Mission 3 (tragic given Mission 3 is incredible - being stalked by the Predalien and all that).

The Aliens thing should surely be incredibly easy to get right, but it seems to be an Achilles heel for so many developers.

While I'm not trying to defend the game, maybe they've put the Wii U version on hold to fix all the issues in the current versions, kinda like what they did with Ninja Gaiden 3. Razor's Edge turned out to be a much better game because of the playtesting from the horrible PS360 versions.

No, from what I've read here and there on reddit, the wiiu version is the worst. Looks worse, lower FPS, and silly minigames used to solder doors and things like that. It's not canned and still supposed to be released sometimes in the future, but I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel it. They just can't release that game in an inferior version many weeks later when it doesn't even reach 50% on metacritics.

I don't give a shit about all the outsourcing that's gone on. This reflects bad horribly on Gearbox, who are quickly looking to be, after the Duke Nukem fiasco and this to be a terrible terrible studio. Getting Borderlands right every couple or three years doesn't wash the bad taste this game will leave, and I don't think Borderlands 3 will heal it either.

All the hype, all the years in development, and it's a complete and total shitfest.

I think it is done to give the game some variation, starring at black bugs all game gets repetitive, AvP games have a mix of Aliens, other humans, synths and Preds to fight.

teh gud on AVP 2010 is, you fight xenos, xenos who spitts acid, xeno from egg, fast xeno, mama xeno, androids and a predator. its a good number considering the movies.

The rumor about the Wii U version of ACM started because of two things: 1-. the assets they used to build the demo were made and therefore, do exist. 2. the only footage that exists of the Wii U version depicts the devs using the gamepad to solve puzzles and also show how the alien radar looks. But the gameplay graphics included in the same video, appear similar to the graphics used for the demo.

And then we have what Randy Pitchford said about the Wii U version. That it would be the best looking version of them all. But who the hell believes that guy? LOL

Thing is, the Wii U does have more RAM than the HD twins. And it was the lack of RAM that prevented the PS3/360 versions from having all that lighting and fog effects (PC version was gimped because of the console versions)

I've grown to really love Alien 3 over the years and can accept Hick's demise, in a weird way it's sort of realistic. Didn't always feel that way though, especially when I heard about the early Alien 3 concepts, the wooden planet, the monks etc. I just hated it for being weird and un-Alien. But now I feel it's quite interesting.. The workprint cut was pretty awesome in a way - it's almost like RE 1.5 and RE2, same same but different
Yes, it's from a longer video showing the comparison from E3 last year (I think) to the release, there are a lot of parts like this but this one is the funniest.

As for Alien 3.... it's not terrible but it has studio interference all over it. Why is Ripley even in it? Because Fox probably didn't think it would sell otherwise. Killing everyone off just seemed like a pathetic way of upping the stakes while keeping Sigourney Weaver's name on it. In the end I don't care for it, even the work print version.

As for the creature types and variety? I was happy with standard black aliens, faster crawling brown ones, facehuggers, Praetorians, and the odd throw in of a single predator as a harder fight before the queen. The "crusher" just looks really silly. The point is fighting waves shouldn't be a part of the game that needs such a big variety, one or two coming out to get you in between smaller battles should be enough to maintain tension. And in the end, it's an iconic design why mess with it?

It is apparently coming out now that Gearbox used the money SEGA was funding them with for A:CM and put it into Borderlands games.

                    • That's another thing I can't stand actually. The additions of different aliens. It's just so so pointless.

The Runner alien from Alien3, was a new concept and I see what they were trying to do.
The Praetorian I'll accept, but don't really like it.

But that's about it from me, the new type of alien seen at the end of Prometheus was totally not needed, and these new ones Gearbox have introduced are terrible.

                        • Probably the heavy advertising on TV which is totally non representative of the game.

                          • Well this is disappointing but kinda expected. That demo/final gif made me lol. Wow that's bad. The PS1-PS2 (mostly) era we didn't have to go through this BS because the devs. didn't have the option of being lazy on purpose - because back then when it was crunch time they had to try their best in the final hours to release a good game the first time around -- they either made the game right or they didn't.

There were rarely any second chances back then (on consoles). I miss that generation and I hate this one. These days it's all dlc/patch mindset of 'Release it now, who cares, we'll make money off it anyway suckers and if we're not too lazy, maybe just maybe we'll try to to halfway fix it later - IF you're lucky'. The potential for good things was there for downloadable patches to fix legitimate problems, but all it gets it abused with dlc - much like with how crappy cgi effects are abused in movies and tv shows.

I rarely buy new games anymore. I'm just disgusted by the whole scenario and don't feel like being hassled by any of it any more. Pretty much retro-only for me now.

Oh well, i'll just replay Alien Resurrection instead.

                            • Pitchford apparently is someday going to speak about why the demo was superior in every way than the finished product... But not on Twitter.

@DuvalMagic : Lots to learn and discuss here... Beyond the scope of twitter.
When asked when and where he could speak about it, he replied:

@DuvalMagic : We're looking at that. Please forgive me for being very careful at the moment. Thank you for understanding.
I guess someone in the gaming media needs to pay for that exclusive, then.
