Revengenance is all about the cutting tanks into strips of metal with a super katana. Occasionally, I believe, you sneak up on someone before turning them into a pile of atmoic dust. But mostly it's about the cutting.

Dead Space 3 is more actiony and less horror than the previous two, but it's not a full blown 'Let's try and steal Battlefield 3 players' approach like Capcom - it still feels a lot like Dead Space. And although it serenades you with universal ammo, it also seems to take more shots per Necromorph to drop them - I'm on easy (yes, I'm a wuss) and whereas I could murder a slasher in a couple of Plasma Cutter shots, I can barely scratch these buggers with four or five.

While I can't speak on behalf of MGSR, I have beaten DS3 many times in the past few weeks and I can tell you that it is a very solid title with lots of replay value. While it definitely lacks the volume of horror and gore that the first two titles were known for, the new control tweaks/weapon building mechanics ,solid voice acting and immersive story will give you a great gameplay experience regardless. It's like watching some epic sci-fi mashup film of The Thing/Prometheus. Also, they are already releasing new DLC chapters that supposedly features "The darkest and creepiest encounters with necromorphs yet" for those of us who were a little disappointed by the lack of horror.

Depends if you want either an swordplay action game or have played the last 2 Dead Space games and want to finish the series off. Very different set of games, totally depends on you.

Speaking as someone who has played neither, I suggest skipping them both, or just renting as I will at some point.

Get Rising, at least that one has a chance of a sequel if you like it.

                Dead Space series is dead.

They're both pretty good, though Rising is perhaps more fun.

This is true. It's a shame that no one bought the game, now it's easy to see why the DLC is being released so quickly. They just want to get the shit out, cash in what little money it brings in and close the book. With the Dead Space series cancelled, the survival horror genre just got another nail in the coffin.

Your original post said you wanted MGS for the sneaking element. Since that's basically gone with the new one, I would suggest Dead Space 3 if you enjoy a good Survial Horror game. IMO, Dead Space is one of the best Survival Games of this generation. If you really do want a sneaking stealth type game like the originl MGS games, I would suggest the new Hitman game or Splinter Cell. To me the new Metal Gear is a Devil May Cry type button mashing arcade combo game. I would never buy it.

They haven't even sold 1 million and wanted 5. One developer even said the entire studio was laid off. Its dead. They are just doing damage control.

just because a game's sale are below what they expected doesn't make the game bad. same with the music industry. Dead Space is one of the last few survival horror games I've played recently that has a modern feel to it. Just because sales are low doesn't make it bad, there are tons of factors that can attribute to low sales. It can be that the majority of people don't want to play that style of game. Or with the releases of Gears of War and other games approaching, people would rather spend their money on other titles. For what it is... Dead Space 3 is a great game, not as good as the first 2, but then again sequels usually always fall off.
