While browsing the PS Store:


That popped up. Originally the publisher said: "Dark Energy Digital".
They closed in 2012 and were in the process of selling their assets: http://survivalhorrorlist.blogspot.c...y-digital.html .I guess hydrophobia was purchased then?
Good news for Hydrophobia fans (Im one), we might get a sequel.

It would be nice. It had the shittiest ending of all time, which annoyed me greatly - it's really not that hard to wrap up a subplot that would leave the player feeling satisfied and the main story still waiting to be done instead of whoosh! Water from no where, game done.

Bring the original (or, well, "Prophecy" edition) to WiiU, get the two next chapters done.

Also, absolutely loved the first one (both the original 360 version and the Prophecy update, but didn't feel that they needed to recast your partner).

So Cherry Pop Games? Do they have anything but Pool Nation under their belt? Regardless, good to see the phyiscs perverts teaming up "Pool physics, meet water physics."

Update: After doing some research, Dark Energy went silent in September. Yet, in october 2012, Cherry Pop magically appeared. SO, i think its possible they reformed as a new company.

Well good news either way.
I loved Hydrophobia and could not understand the hate. had some of the best graphics ive ever seen and the sense that the ship was sinking as you were in it was scary.
I cant wait to hear more about this company. I want a sequel.

One of my tutors for University worked on this game, he said they unfortunately didn't use the water mechanics in the best ways they planned to, scrapping a lot of puzzles and plans whilst working on the games couple year development, I believe. I bought it for £1.19 when it was on a PSN sale. I am not far - I love the gameplay, reminds me of a Tomb Raider - before 2013 came out anyway. I'm sorry but the main protagonist has an awful and forced voice actor and accent its really grating, but I love the story and gameplay. My tutor didn't say much about the company disbanding, I don't know if he left after or before they died off but I believe it was before.

If your in contact with him still, you should seriously ask him what happened with dark energy and why the game is now owned by cherry pop games.

Well from what I was made aware, Hydrophobia didn't sell well and Dark Energy had to sell the IP which went to Cherry Pop, then Dark Energy was kind of merged with Microsoft. He left before the merge so he knows not a lot, but as far as I'm aware - you'd have to get in contact with the new developers if you want to know if they'll make a sequel.
