I miss the diversity of games that we used to have...

for example with ps1 or ps2 games we would have games that are unique and different from each othr

now ps3 and xbox....evry game is the same. iv got max payne, dead space, resident evil, gta ec etc, jus any othr shooting game...and its jus the same, camera angle, buttons etc, only difference is enemys and surrounding obviously

anyone agree with me?

Its because the videogame industry has become like Hollywood. In the sense that AAA games require a crapload of cash to even get going.

So just like in Hollywood, game devs play it safe. And they make more of what sells (shooters).

Games require so much damn cash now, that Japanese devs cannot keep up and compete (thus why they're lagging behind). That even happens to Western devs. Who have gone kaput this gen. Some suspect that more will fold and go bye-bye next gen.

If you really want diversity and playing games that take risks, try the indie gaming scene.

All my favoriet series have gone to crap:

Spyro
Silent Hill
Resident Evil

and a few others i may of forgot.
Compare the new games to the old games, and you will def see what im talking about.
In spyros case, his own series was hijacked, and its no longer even about "Spyro".
Silent hill is some POS series now that is more focused on RPG elements.
And resident eivl keeps turning into a septic tank the more and more games that release.

True...such a shame though, it jus seems lik from what uv said...they dont want to make more of an effort to work on games jus that bit more

Metal gear solid, resident evil, splintr cell, goldeneye,, tomb raider, gta etc (i may be forgetting some obvious titles...if so let me kno)

Then comes to the ps3 games and im wanting to play anothr game and im like didnt I jus play this lol

The indie scene has games made by gamers for other gamers. Seriously, if you want memorable experiences that are unique and enchanting as those nostalgic days before the internet became mainstream, get those indie games.

Pretty much this. People just have a bad habit of not recognizing and/or appreciate those games that actually do something different.

Usually, doing something different gets treated as "bad" these days. There were a good few articles recently on "How CoD ruined FPS gaming" and some of them pretty much describe this phenomenon.

but think about it really..there sint really much diversity....remeber i was only talking about the shooting games.

Well, what COD did wrong? they made success after success since MW1. and it did not leave its roots. they do not improve technical stuff like BF3 but is not their fault.

Even among shooters there's still variety today though.

BioShock series, Dead Space series, CoD series, Resident Evil series, Gears of War series, Shadows of the Damned, etc.

They're all quite different from each other, for better or for worse.
