    I'm with you Canas.

Though in all honesty, Nintendo needs to grow up a little more on their mature games library, the internet, and they really need to up their game on their own game titles, Super Mario has been incredibly easy to beat for the last 7 years(the 'new SMB' titles practically give you 1ups for jumping), Metroid has been kind of odd, and while I like a lot of their artistic choices in Zelda....They haven't gripped me with the stories they've chosen to tell.

That was always one of Nintendo's biggest flaws, I thought, that they pushed away third party support.
Hence, why I previously said: "In my honest opinion, Nintendo's hardware R&D staff is what's killing the company"

They're cheap, and too pompous, even if they have no real reason for it. They thought developers would prefer ROM cartridges. They thought proprietary mini-DVDs were proficient. Now, they think software developers want to conform to their unique controls.

They shot themselves in the foot, with their own ego loaded into the chamber. Until they realize that their hardware R&D staff aren't cutting-edge experts, the sooner they'll get a profitable fan-base.

But I do recognize that it's a pretty major flaw when trying to get all sorts of gamers to come back to you. However, I think the Wii U is still in its "new console, doing badly" phase and as soon as they announce more stuff and more importantly, start releasing more games, it'll get its footing. I mean it's not like it's doing too poorly, it's outselling the PS360 during the same time frame last I checked. It's just gonna need releases soon or things are going to get bad. Nothing we haven't really seen from most, if not all console launches though (except the Wii, that was insane when it launched).
Ditto. For me, every Nintendo console purchase (post-N64) was done with the prior knowledge that excellent 3rd party support is going to be rare.

If the Wii U is going through a phase, it's going to be of great difficulty to break through. And yes, it's sell charts are God-awful. As I previously mentioned, they sold around 55,000 units in March and 57,000 units in Feb. The PS3 and 360 were about on-par with each other, selling roughly 200,000-250,000 units per company, for each of those months. Even high-profile investors in Nintendo stock are running for the hills. It doesn't look good, especially considering that sells aren't even on-par with that of the GameCube.

3rd party software developers aren't porting their high-end engines to the Wii U, many are claiming the CPU creates a bottleneck. The technology just can't compare to the PS3 and 360. Software developers want to go forward, not backward, with design.

The ultimate ace for Nintendo, would be to unveil and release a new console this year.

Nintendo knows that 'mature' games are not their forte. Its not what they do. Its like expecting Disney to make one of those porn horror flicks, such as the 'Saw' series.

So that's why got Retro Studios and Monolith Soft to make more 'mature' games for them. Or just the type of games they don't usually make.

Perhaps there should be a general console/manufacturer/gaming discussion thread. Poor ALttP2 thread.

...but until that happens, Nintendo has announced it isn't going to be having an E3 conference this year.

Eh, I take responsibility for derailing/trolling. I took it too far. My apologies.

Sad news about E3 :/ ...it was initially reported that they were doing an extremely small setup, only displaying various software/games. Not sure what to make of the cancellation. More bad news, I guess...

Not really, you weren't the one who made the argument that Nintendo wasn't creative with their IPs anymore and the debate started after that.

Lots of perspectives were shared and things were quite civil, it wasn't entirely off topic. I mean we were discussing Nintendo as a whole as opposed to just one of their products.

Well, I didn't really help matters

I agree, absolutely. Imagine if 'New' Mario difficulty levels reached that of "The Lost levels"? And as unique from one another as Mario 2, 3 and World? I guess that I kinda agree with the 'creatively dead' argument. They need both new hardware and software R&D staff.

I'm especially interested in hearing your opinion on the direction of Metroid.
