  • With practically quadruple the support on Twitter, Sony is killing it, and rightfully so. Once backwards compatibility is introduced via the cloud, Sony can shut up and take my money.

Depending on your country's law regarding consumer's rights this can mean fuck all, but it still is awful.
I've never and still don't understand why waivers are legal.

I like the way it ties a game to my user so I can reach it anywhere (+let others reach my crap, if they are family)

At the end of the day, I guess this is kind of like the flipside of the coin when people requested that they shouldn't have to get up and swap discs between games they've installed on their drives. MS not finding a way to make an omelette without crackin' some bad eggs.
You know how you were talking about people saying they were going to lose their digital content access? This thing about disc swapping and having to get up has been my thing of the week to get pissed at. Really? It's that fucking hard to lift your lazy ass out of a seat and change discs? That's the real problem we have with gaming now really? Fuck me. That's a non issue. Who the hell cares about that. Drive wear from constant disc read I might be able to understand but able gamers saying they don't want to change a disc is a just reason for DRM... Geez.

I totally am fine with understanding a digital account is accessible and shareable and everything. And allowing full installs so people can access games but complaining about disc changes and then allowing that to justify DRM issues... People have lost the plot.

          • Not that I was considering an XboxONE; but that news on Dead Rising 3 is just depressing. It just sound like any identity of the original two (ie. the silliness and charm of it all, especially in two) has been sacrificed to go after the trendy market of the day. First Hollywood and now mainstream gaming just seems soooo risk averse that everything will just be diluted and shit in order to appeal to everyone. Look at how well RE6 worked out for them...

            • I don't see any reason to fear that Dead Rising 3 is gonna be any different than the two previous ones in terms of silliness. They've shown a few minutes of gameplay, for Christ sake ;D It's not like all initial reveal marketing material for DR1-2 focused exclusively on tricycles and girls' dresses. ;D

              • No Resident Evil announcement at this E3? I guess this "surprise" that Capcom was talking about was Dead Rising 3? Okay.

I guess I had my hopes too high. But then again, when it comes to Capcom, your hopes don't mean shit.

I've read several different interviews/articles regarding the behind doors demo. They all are asking the same question Gene is. And Capcom staff continue to say that they are actively going for a grittier take supposedly again to attract CoD fans. And with zombies who a threat. I think it's clearly obvious it ain't going back to anything like the first two. Or three if you count OTR which was the silliest of the lot.

It probably wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't that there are mountains of gritty zombie games out there and mostly changing a big chunk of what made the IP different from them isn't going to help.

Put this another way Inafune made DR as an alternative to the serious action of Biohazard. Aside from tool crafting (and any Phenotrans ref) what about the demo we've seen could possibly separate that game from being open world just having a 'Biohazard: Subtitle' label on it?

If they remove them it makes it even more like every other gritty zombie game.

other than the graphics look great as usual for a Capcom game.

                        • Totally not convinced they'll make this "serious." It's like calling GTAIV serious in comparison to Saints Row 2, when they both are full of general bullshit, parodies and unserious insanity, just that one embraces it and the other one just enables it. (Though, I guess they might be going "less Saints Row, more GTA" in their approach now)

Or maybe make them more accessible to "normal" people. Some of the psychopaths could be a real pain to some players (I've seen some amazingly retarded approaches to how people take on the psychopaths)

Now, here's a curious thought, what if ... your worst fears are right ... but it still turns out to be the "best game ever" (to some extent) - what then? People have the guts to swallow their pride and admit it or is it still "FUCKING FAIL"? ;D

                              • I have no problems with that. I can think back to what happened with DmC like that. I mean it wasn't the best game in the world but it wasn't a world class fuck up like everyone tried to say it would be. So yeah who knows.

As I said I just think taking away something that made the IP different seems silly on the surface just because critically I think making like other games isn't going to grow sales. But yeah I could be wrong and it might be what the general masses actually do want.
