I like the fact that the whole "console war" thing has gradually become more and more about some sort of status image tied to the system brand of choice, rather than putting the games in the center (at least the 16-bit and such was very much a "Mario" vs "Sonic"-ish "battle"). I think the PSP was the first time I saw what's roughly comparable to people who buy Apple computers for thrice the price of an off the shelf laptop, 'cause they're gonna use it for twitter and facebook in their living room, or unjustifiably buy expensive mobile phones - despite their only usage of it pretty much being limited to good ol' SMS texting and phone calls.
