Yes its a huge deviation from the Sands Trilogy, and the characters are extremely different from what everyone was used to, but I think it really works, the controls are streamlined to make the game flow better *although im sure people will bitch that alot of the game is handled by 2-3 buttons, especially for jumps and wallruns but I find it more fun then the rigid controls of the Sands Trilogy which by the end had TOO many controls and functions it made Two Thrones a complete chore to run through*.

If you're looking for a game which you could breeze through without much thought, this is your game, however if you really want a deep immersive run through of it, play through the game to but participate in every optional dialogue conversation the "Prince" can have with Elika, as its pretty much the best way to flesh out the story which is pretty good once you do this as it expands from the save the world plot.
The character dynamic between both Elika and the Prince is pretty well written, which is pretty good considering to be fair theres by maximum about 6-7 characters in the whole game including bosses but its a good 9-10 hour game on first play through.

The difficulty was toned down to make for a more pick up and play experience for casual players, which was fine by me considering by Warrior Within and Two THrones the sands trilogy became too much of a "hardcore" series for me to pick up and play despite being able to play through both on normal and hard, it became a chore instead of the immersive experience Sands of Time originally was.

However if you REALLY want difficulty i'd reccomend you cough up the 800pts or whatever the cost may be for the Epilogue, although the scenery completely shifts from beautiful external locations to underground dungeons, the difficulty is completely cranked up to highest settings for both exploration/platforming and boss battles *which to be honest can get frustrating as some platforming sequences I timed can last up to 3-4 minutes in one go and if you fluff it up you have to start all over as the game only checkpoints on flat land*
Sounds cool man I'll have to check it out

I've been wanting to try out the DLC once I get around to beating the main game. Sounds interesting.

While its extremely annoying that you have to effectively pay for an ending *well the game HAS an ending but this is the true epilogue* that should really have been in the original package to begin with, its not a bad addition, although I couldn't get the thoughts "What a ripoff" out of my head while playing it, its almost as bad as playing a capcom title nowadays.

I kinda feel the Epilogue is more of a "Prince of Persia 2", just that it wasn't long enough to warrant a full game release of its own (Which makes it what some of us used to call Expansion Packs, I guess). To me, the ending of the main game was fantastic. It was actually hard for me to see the story come to any good or satisfying end, but when I finally got there and saw what they did; I absolutely loved it.

I also like the general dialog between the main character and Elika. One of the greatest relationships I've seen get built up between two people in a digital medium.

Me and Prince of Persia (2008) have a bit of a love/hate relationship of our own, really.
I both hate and love it. People who have listened to the podcast probably heard me blurt out a little about it before I got the chance to try out the DLC. I don't like how some of the controls 'n' stuff were done. But I absolutely love the HUD-less interface, the way the optional tutorial was done, and so on. I don't like the way everything secretly runs on rails and a grid, but I love how smooth and pretty it all looks while it's in motion... and I really wish there were more distant camera sequences like stuff near the end of the main game. 'cause that stuff looks absolutely awesome and played absolutely awesome too.

I really hate the designs of most of the locations in the game, 'cause they don't make any sense. It's as if they're designed just to be an obstacle for you to pass, not as if they actually had a purpose... as Elika constantly re-assures you it all had. Yet... at the same time... I can't help but think this is without doubt one of the best visuals and art direction shown in a game so far this generation. There's no such thing as a place in this game that doesn't look absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous.

One thing I find kinda interesting with the DLC is how incredibly non-direct the way you start it is.

The fact that you have to enter a separate menu called "Downloadable Content" to then select the detected "Epilogue" makes me wonder whether or not it's just a way to easily put the Epilogue outside of the rest of the game's menu system or if there's a chance that there is (or has been) plans for additional content beyond just the Epilogue (Prologue?)
