SC1 for Xbox Live...? Never could stand my 360's online, due to it not being wireless, and the fact you have to pay $80 a year for online gameplay peeved me off.
Sounds interesting though, does it include all the modes and features from the DC version?
Yeah, though come to think of it, they started that with SC in 98 by adding Yoshimitsu from Tekken. Although he was a different character and was remade for the series. The rest? not so much.

SC on XBLA is actually offline oddly enough. It has all the content from the DC game but missing the main intro (it was realtime), and the mission mode. However all extras are there, including the museum. The game plays faster than the other games in the series, but it's not as balanced. If you liked SCIII, then you'll love it.

Like T5 on PS3, the rendering is 1080p but since it's an older game, it doesn't look so hot after 10 years. 3:4 within a 16:9 frame too.

I'm sure you liked the dawn of QTE's with Soul Blade, but they're missing in SC. Endings are mere text based.

Interesting, thanks for sharing, if I ever get one of those Xbox Points card, I'll consider getting it, just for the offline portion, anyway.
Missions mode? What did that include? Was it like Soul Blades story mode?

There were missions in line with Soul Blades Edge Master mode, however there was only one story every character could participate in, it wasn't character specific but was still very fun nonetheless *much better then the SCII mode*

Frankly the Intro Creator mode and Mission Mode stopped me from buying this on XBL, not to mention 1st hand copies of SCI are really easy to find on the DC via ebay

        ______

Got SCIV recently, its pretty good but i've only so far finished it with Siegfried, Kilik and Zasalamel

Good. Got SCIV at a good price off a friend, and it's just painfully obvious that the series peaked with the 2nd game. The critical finish is a nice touch, but nothing mind blowing, and the soul gauge simply discourages turtling.

SCIV is still a good game, though I'd still rather play SC or T5 DR (an hour trip isn't worth it to play a game of T6). Infinites are being discovered as we speak, such as this one:

Ivy Infinite found by SAB, posted by aris. All credit goes to them for finding this.Patch this please Namco!

Both versions have peer to peer online, and the code sucks to be honest. I found the online play as painful as T5 DR's, though that one eventually got a good lobby system where you could filter out the weeds with ping issues.

I think the story seems...low in 4, as I said, you don't know what the fecks going on.
I think I've missed alot of Soul Calibur...Is there any Nightmare?
And its funny, when I used to own a hint book, there was a box for Soul Calibur, didnt think anything of it til I read "Sophitia", "Cervantes", then I KNEW it was the same game, but I thought it was the same just for DreamCast, im so ridiculous when Im young haha.
But yeah, I might eventually get it. Or buy a DC quick and cheap then get it.

Yeah, Nightmare is there and every character made it in the sequels but Hwang. He was an extra in the home version of SCIII that turned into a full fledged character in the arcade edition.

As great as the DC edition is, I still wish I picked up the arcade version when I had the chance for mere $100 (board alone). Something about the unfiltered PS1 visuals makes me nostalgic.

I played the demo today after setting my Xbox 360 upto the internet after 1 year.
Wow, I like this, so much I'm going to pick up a 2100 Point card and buy Happy Tree Friends + Sonic The Hedgehog Amigo Mode + Soul Calibur.

Disappointed that Namco never took Soulcalibur 1 Hwang Seriously.
He was *next to Kilik and Siegfried* my primary character in the game *Yes I know he's basically Xianghua but with a number of Hwangs Kicks and whatnot but he worked really well as a character*.
Didn't like how they relegated him to representing a custom class in ScIII and how he was non existant in SCIV despite being part of YeongSungs story.

Soul Blade/Edge was an awesome fighting game.. I first played it in the arcade and then pre-ordered the PSX version straight after.

The difficulty was just right, challenging but fair (at least at the time). I didn't like some of the objectives in the edge master mode like only being able to damage your opponent when he's in the air but it was addicting. I remember having some trouble with Voldo's ending (pressing left and right to shatter the soul edge or something, my fingers used to hurt like hell). Actually most of the things I remember from that game were how much it pissed me off sometimes lol. But I did everything in the end..

Hwang was quite distinct and better than Xiangua aside from sharing a few moves (even those shared moves were better with him due to his longer range and speed). Him and Mitsurugi were the "fun" characters, while I stuck with Maxi competitively.

For the record, the arcade edition of SCIII did have him as a full standalone character. Too bad Namco didn't consider releasing the fixed version of the game on the PSN ala T5 DR.

I think the team may have some animosity of the character, since he did spring up initially as a mere Mitsurugi palette swap for the Korean version of SE (much like Arthur in SC1).

If SCIII AE or SC1 ever got a release with an online play, I'd toss out SCIV without hesitation. The pacing is reminiscent of SCII and the amount of stuns in the game are ridiculous.

I've given up on online play for SCIV.
Not had problems with connections, but definitley had problems with cord pullers durign both unranked and ranked battles, that and the fact i've come up against no one but custom users for Taki and Ivy, along with battles not being skillful but instead consist of me *Siegfried and Maxi user* having to parry and counter button mashers, along with people who whore the same combination over and over.

I downloaded Soul Calibur on the XBLA the other day...and i have absolutely no idea why! haha

Enjoyable though, completed the arcade mode in 6 minutes plus i think it was.

The original Soul Blade and Soul Calibur were both exceptional games. Not a huge fan of the series now though, it's lost a lot of the magic it once possessed. Never been a fan of the character creation.
