Got my Special Edition a couple hours ago. The lock box is beastly! The key chain is pretty solid, the license plate is epic, the duffel bag leaves something to be desired, though.

I'm going to spend the next couple of days playing the shit out of this game.

Ok late reply, but i've been playing this game alllll day, well take a break here and there to watch the football on t.v. But the collectors edition for ps3 was very nice. Haven't had the chance to view the artbook, but the soundtrack is going to be playing tonight when i go to sleep, if i sleep that is
I think the online mode is amazing tho, i love the free roam mode, where you and ppl online can just hunt each other down and what not.

I take back (most of) the bad things i said about this game. It's by no means the best game ever as many reviews are claiming, it's just good old fashioned GTA, which is fantastic, none of this "gansta" bullshit that SA brought in.

          LOL rewak, a complete reversal

I've been enjoying the game too. I didn't bother to preorder, because I figured there would be enough copies. It seems I was right, I snuck in to walkmart at 12:20AM on launch day and snagged the PS3 and 360 versions. Fun stuff, but please spoiler tag any spoilers if you are going to be discussing the plot.

Also, anyone who has the 360 version and would like to do some multiplayer, I think we have Randomwab, Carnivol, and myself from "the group" who would be willing to play some games with you guys. Bjorn might hop in eventually when his Japanese copy releases. I'll try to hold off on that until I beat the single player campaign though. I don't like jumping into Multiplayer first

You do realize that's what GTA is all about - organized crime (aka gangs), right? Organized crime, whether the parties involved are "white" that listen to classical music or they are "black" and listen to Rap, is still all in the same - gangs that organize crime (eg, white gangsters and black gangsters are no different; their purposes are all the same).

GTA 3 was about organized crime with primarly "white" mob gangsters.
Vice City was about organized crime + drugs with white drug dealing gangsters.
San Andreas was about organized crime + drugs + sex with black gangsters.

If one wants to steer clear of the "gangsta bullshit", you had might aswell stay away from every GTA title because as I just mentioned, gangsters are universal.

              I'm dissapointed you're 360ing it up. :p

I did some multiplayer action last night for an hour or two... played with some guys in NZ and then joined some free mode with about 14 players and cops added into the mix. Crazy stuff! It was cool teaming up with some people I knew as well to just double or triple team other players if we wanted.

I have the 360 version, might just have to use my brothers XBL account *it clocks off in 2 months so i'll be getting my own one soon enough with any luck before SFIV and SSF2HD come out*

I realise that, but SA was pretty much just a lesson in stereotypes that i didn't enjoy one bit.

Not so much complete, i liked GTA3 and VC, SA just made me lose all faith in the series i guess, this has very much restored it

I like how they have a "Warm Coffee" achievement, it's nice to see them have a sense of humour about things!

Yeah I know, I was just mocking :p

I'm just happier with the PS3 multi, outage and all, because the thing is free

Please tell me you didn't pick up both to capture screens for Quaz... (though I think I know the answer).

I've heard the only reason why people think the ps3 version is better is because it supports wide screen where as the xbox360 version has the shitty black bar problem is that true?

Nope, let me recite the differences according to various good sources online:

                                - Mandatory HDD install that makes shorter loading times and cuts down on pop-in considerably on PS3.

                                - Sixaxis support, but according to Kotaku, it's dreadful.

                                - Better filters and post-processing effects that give the PS3 game a bit more of a "preferred" look if you will. It also helps with the aliasing, since unlike the 360 version, it lacks AA (360 has 2X MSAA)

                                - The PS3 game runs at a sub-HD resolution... 1152x640 IIRC like Halo 3, whereas the 360 version runs at 1280x720.

Ultimately, it seems that differences are minor enough that both versions are fine. However you'll find an idiot or two making a mountain out of a molehill ranging from the pop-in on 360, and how the PS3 version is suddenly very blurry.

One thing I'm not sure about is audio. I know DD 5.1 is a given in both, but I'm curious and reviews NEVER mention if a game uses DTS or LPCM up to 7.1 on PS3. Then again neither do western packages.
