PG-13 makes me think that it's going to be rated 12 over here, but it's not the classification that's the point here. It's the subject material itself. If this was something tame, like a Final Fantasy film or anything to that degree, I could understand that. FF is not a particularly violent series. But this is Max Payne, a video game with blood, violence and drug references. It has to be at the very least a 15 certificate, if not 18.
    See you in hell.

UK will probably get a 15, cause it's a very dark movie, no matter about the PG-13 rating as stated by the cast many times. Aparentally, it's extremely gritty and visually tense.

For anyone who cares about whether or not it is PG-13 or R rated, the real question is whether or not that is just a US cut of the movie and if the original R rated one will be an international cut (and also likely the home DVD release), as normally happens with many movies.

I'm unsure about that, but still the movie was shot for a PG-13. Even if it's rated R18+ over here I'd see it.

Some reports online suggested that after the R -> PG-13 rating change of the movie, it went from 1h39min (99min) to 1h26min (86min).

I dunno what length it's listed as in screens in the US at the moment, but my local cinema has the film rated 15+ and listed as 1h40m (100min). And I can't think of a single case where a PG-13 movie has been released here as anything but 11+ (or less) with a note stating that the movie is mainly for teenagers/adults.

I have a question about the trailer. Notice the old Beau Bridges looking man, who is talking to (I think Max himself) about how a man loses things and is never the same afterwards. (The part where it shows the crime scene at the house, and then changes to the present) Any Idea whice character he is suppost to be? If I didn't know any better I'd say it was Chief Jim himself. But we've been over that.

Take a Google for the script. It was leaked recently... I have it myself, but I'd have to dig it up again to get the info for you, and I don't really know where it is on my HDD.

The rating has been released over here: MA15+ for Frequent Violence and Drug Use. Funny, MA15+ is usually a Hard R over in America. Same situation happened with Taken (PG-13 -> MA15+) recently. New trend, perhaps?

I'm playing the game at the moment so I'll wait for it to come on DVD.

Watched it, as a fan of the game it sucked, as a fan of action movies it was lame. Biggest mistake was replacing Nicole Horne as the main villain, no doubt holding out some hope for a lame ass sequel.

A lot of people told me that the movie was bad and seeing that it is out off of most theaters, I will probably just rent it.

It's okay, just don't expect the game's quality.
