I do use the gun from time to time but I just find the handling clunky compared to a d-pad if that makes any sense at all

      Yeah right.
Makes perfect sense to me. Playing shoot-out video games with a physical gun could totally make teenage crime spike in the USA.

That sucks. Kinda like Vista not supporting DOS. The best games came out on DOS.
Just find the DOSBox equivalent then

DOSBox sucks. It won't even play Tomb Raider 1 properly.

I don't really have many light-gun games, only about 3 or 4, but now I have no TV in the house that I can play them on. My TV, the TV in the living room and the TV in the kitchen are all flat LCD, so I'm stuck. To be honest though, the only light-gun game that I actually enjoy is Time Crisis 2, so I'm not really losing out too bad as most arcades still have that and I can play through it on one credit.

Ok, If you are buying that lightgun for Dead Aim or any other shooter that requires the use of the D-Pad, DONT. Its so awful it makes the game un-playable. Its some weird analog stick, but its really just a D-Pad with 4 buttons to press. To top it off, its loose, so it makes it incredibly difficult to manuver around in Dead Aim.

I tried my Laser (not Optical) mouse on the PS3, but Dead Aim didn't detect it. Is it only compatible with certain mice or something?

Perhaps the PS2 and PS3 handle USB devices differently? When you first connect the USB mouse to your computer did it require you to add the driver's? If that's the case then that might be the wrong kind of mouse to use. Try using an older mouse that the PS2 might have on-board compatible drivers for...

              --------------------------------------------------------------
Dead Aim PS2 Mouse Controls :

              Move Mouse : Aim
              Left Click : Fire
              Right Click : Reload
              --------------------------------------------------------------

I guess only basic two button USB mice will do the trick. I also read that the PSX mouse will work as well, but I haven't tried to use either setup with Dead Aim yet... At the moment I'm thinking you're going to have to hold the R1 with one hand and move the cursor with the mouse with the other. Seems like alot of work...

dead aim with a mouse, hmmm suppose that wouldn't feel as clunky as the guncon.

                  Update

I tried my USB Mouse and it works smashingly, but you have to hold the controller in a strange way. You move with the mouse like a normal FPS game, the left button controls what R1 would do and then the right button controls the reload button.

If you press R1 on the controller, the cursor won't move if you move the mouse, but if you press the left button on the mouse, Bruce/Fong goes into FPS mode and you can aim all around. Press the left button again to shoot, and I just learned this, but if you aim the cursor at the very top of their heads, like in Umbrella Chronicles, it will perform a head shot all of the time and you can seriously conserve on ammo.

Holding the controller in your left hand isn't as awkward as it appears either since the Left triggers both act as the OK button and thus you just need to click on the left trigger if you want to open a door, pick up an item, or any other action...

So the US release got Guncon 2 & USB support and Europe release
got Guncon 2 & Guncon 45 support instead?
I might have to dig out my budget Logic 3 P7K PS-4005B and give it a bash.
On a side note I recently noticed Max Payne 1 for the PS2 still has USB drivers left on the disc in the MODULES folder

It's weird though, I read though that the PSX Mouse would work. Either it's broken or I'm using it wrong or what. Either way, I'll try running through it with the controller and mouse set up since it's pretty interesting

Is SCPH-1090 E a USB mouse though? it's listed as the compatible mouse in my PS2 manual no mention if it's optical or not either or if it has a scroller button, is it the same as the one you get with the Linux package?

I can make out a scroller button in these pics pics can't tell if's optical or not.
Also I have a USB Keyboard that has USB port on it for mouses do you think it'd work?
It allowed me to type in uLaunchELF but I don't have any means of testing if the mouse works or not in the USB port.
The Linux package Usb Keyboard says you daisy chain the usb mouse to it.

The PSX mouse I used looks similar to SCPH-1090 although it was a third party mouse made by Mad Catz. I'm not totally sure if it even works, to be honest. I bought because I read somewhere that it could be used for the game Clock Tower, but I guess it doesn't work at all

The PS2 game Half Life also supports a USB mouse as well I was playing it last night and I still had the mouse connected from earlier and I bumped into it and the cursor moved... I'm sure it may have said it on the box, but I only keep the discs in my folder, and have the manuals in a bin in my closet...

Yeah USB Keyboard / Mouse http://www.covergalaxy.com/PS2/Half-Life/Cover/
I think the PS2 USB ports are just a HUB anyway rather than two separate ports so I guess my USB mouse will work with the extra USB port on my keyboard as well.

It's not a PS2 it's the official 40GB HDD for the FAT PS2'S that have an expansion bay so you can install Linux, unofficial HDD's can be used to store games on a HDD with the use of HDLoader.
