Thoughts on Heavy Rain

Nothing personal, but my memory is I've not seen you have positive comments about any game in recent memory in this forum so I was just interested to know what types of games you do like

I got the demo earlier today. While the tutorial is slow and has you walking down the alley way pushing all sorts of buttons, the fight sequence was awesome... reminded me of the old Shenmue QTE's and the Krauser fight in RE4. I'm a lot happier with this than I am with the AVP demo, thats for sure.

I'm not entirely convinced or unconvinced on the visual style of the game. Inside looked nice as did the rain effects (which being that it's called Heavy Rain - you'd expect it to), but the crime scene blur was a little too much (clearly fixed by the detail of wearing the glasses). But the style of the game reminds me of playing old adventure games and I like that a lot.

Yeah, I found out the problem. The fight scene in the first half of the demo was intense. The older, pudgy guy kicks ass.

I loved Farenheit but I found the QTE's clunky, unneeded and really just weird.
I can't wait for Heavy Rain, though. <3

Nah you've got a perfectly valid point, i've been harder to please with games lately unfortunately.

Played the demo. It was...exactly what I expected and hoped for. Which is honestly a first. Most games aren't as good as I'd hope. Others are a bit better. This is the first one to meet my expectations so exactly. Kinda weird, really.

Anyway...I played the demo, and it is very entertaining. I really didn't know what to expect, especially since I've avoided a lot of information for fear of spoilers.

But I've never played anything like this. It's easy to succumb to the feeling of being "in" the game world. The characters feel very realistic, and the graphics are pretty phenomenal (though I don't know how they'll age, when I think about the future of animation).

I expect a strong narrative that sucks you into the lives of the 4 protagonists. The mature theme is promising indeed; I just hope the story is actually really good beyond my hype.

My only concern is the replayability/fun factor/tilt. Mainly if the level of interaction will be worthwhile beyond a single playthrough (once the excitement of "newness" wears off).

Guess I'm cautiously optimistic.

Played the demo today, too, and I really enjoyed it. It's unlike any other game I've ever played. I hadn't been that immersed in a game's universe since MGS4. The facial motion capture and voice acting are some of the best I've ever seen, and the QTE's are really interesting and responsive. I'm definitely gonna pick this game up somewhere down the line, but not any time soon. There's just too many good games coming out, and I don't have the money for half of them(thanks, textbooks!).
