Just beat it, and it threw me for a loop. I loved it, and I saved all four heroes my first time.
Spoiler:
I went through all the trials (including drinking the "poison"), didn't drink Dr. Death's... whatever it was, but he caught me and I escaped when the Bible salesman showed up, when Madison was stuck in the burning apartment I hid in the fridge. Then I got Norman to find out who the killer was and help out Ethan and ultimately kill Scott. Also, I always resisted the triptocaine every time with Norman.
Shame, too, 'cause Scott was one of my favorite characters.
Oh, and what was happening to Norman at the end, where he sees the little tanks even though his ARI glasses are off? Was he just having withdrawls from dumping his triptocaine in the toilet?
Beat the game myself...and I'm about ready to start another playthrough.
Spoiler:
Hard mode, and I got Lauren, the drug dealer (reminded me of "Red" from Pineapple Express with that robe), and Scott killed. To be honest, like REmaster, I didn't expect that outcome. I only guessed when the video footage came around of Scott and Paco's altercation. I'm glad to hear you went for the fridge, Canas. Hey, if it works for Indy against the fucking bomb I'm sure a lesser explosion wouldn't touch it.
I'd say one of my favorite sequences was the "Dr. Death" one; possibly the one where I was most worried about the character's life. My thoughts about this game are the same. Involving story, great atmosphere, a lot of great "what if" situations. I remember a writer who said something along the lines of "I like to throw as many stones at my characters to see which way they'll turn." What the game does is something similar to it, and it was a helluva lot of fun.
I'm going to see what kind of things I could trigger on another go.
I just saw a live-stream of the game for about 10 minutes...I had to stop because I'm
planning on getting the game and I don't really want to spoil anything now, do I?
It was really hard to stop watching the Live-stream.
I'm doing a run and getting some subtle differences.
Spoiler:
As Ethan I finished up the sketch in the beginning, played with Jason first on his birthday (I remember choosing Shaun accidentally the first time, the look on Jason's face was quite telling), and ultimately gave him more attention. There were definitely differences in both Ethan and Shaun; the first time I played they were nothing but down after the 2 year transition, but this time it seemed that there was some hope of getting over their loss. Ultimately it was a better setup for Shaun's kidnapping.
Scott's plot line is understandably more chilling from a new perspective. The entire scene with Mrs. Bowles and her baby is a fine example of this. I allowed the store clerk to get shot this time. I guess this is more of a merciless playthrough.
Found a clue I missed before as Norman and shot Nathaniel (the religious nut) at the first suggestion. I plan on taking triptocaine at every opportunity.
This seems like the only game where I want to get all of the trophies, but we'll see about that
Starting to have a problem with the game...Haven't played since last night, and haven't played the game longer than two hours max. I started up to resume playing tonight, and go to load my game. Data doesn't say it has an issue. It just goes to a black screen and doesnt load. Can't even access the PSN menu. I tried going through the chapter to load it that way, no dice. I know some people on this forum and other places have had problems. The saved data can't be copied either, so I can't back up my files in case something happens. The chapter in quesiton is "On the Loose"....I think I'll try a few other things before I restart the game completely. For anyone else that has had problems...do you know what chapter it was?
edit: I think it's officially fucked. I tried restarting from a different chapter and I get the same black screen. And I didn't turn the game off midsave either. I was actually in the main menu looking through the bonus art when I turned the game off.
I had the same type of problem with God of War Collection. It seems like these new games coming out have issues with the older PS3 models because every complaint I saw lied with a 40, 60 or 80GB system. One day, for no apparent reason at all, GoW Collection started working again for me.
I'd contact Sony and make sure they're aware of the problem, and if it's widespread enough, they and Quantic Dream should act on it eventually. The game's brand new, and as is the trend with games this generation, it seems as though launch-time issues are 'to be expected.'

You must have corrupted your save data somehow. HR seems to constantly be writing and loading on the harddrive. I screwed my save data up because the damn game wouldn't load past a Madison loading screen late in the game, and I quit though the PSN menu. After playing my new game and getting to that exact same point, it did it again, though that time I waited for twenty minutes and made sure no loading disc noises would going on in the PS3, and just ejected the disc. Luckly, I was able to load my save data and it loaded the level like nothing was ever wrong.
It sucks this has to happen to people, but look at the good news--at least it didn't happen to you after playing the game for about 10 hours and when you find out who the killer was.
That's like, the worst unintentional cliffhanger ever.
Follow those instructions, and when you get to the Recovery Menu, click 'Restore File System.' That's what worked when my Uncharted 2 data was corrupted. If there's corrupted data on your system, you can simply follow these steps and it should fix the problem. It worked for me, anyway.
