HDMI Vs HD component

HDMI is digital, has more bandwidth throughput, and can support lossless audio. HD Component is analog and while it does a good job of displaying HD singals on a digital monitor (like a plasma or LCD screen) it just isn't the same. You will loose sharpness and chroma range. For a really obvious example if you want to compare, boot up Mass Effect in a HDMI capable 360 and look at the stars on the loading screen. With component cables they will look kind of washed out and gray but with HDMI they will look sharp and bright.

Here's a quick comparison...
Component: 480i 480p 576i 576p 720p 1080i
HDMI: 480i 480p 576i 576p 720p 1080i 1080p
So basically if you want 1080 progressive, you need HDMI.Last edited by Jubei Mishima; 10-07-2008, 09:00 AM.
