Someone was locked up?! I can't believe that!

I'm also in Australia. I've imported banned and uncensored games many times. Never had a problem
Custom officers have better things to do than worry about videogames. You would have to be VERY unlucky. Even if caught, you would probably just get a note telling you that you can't have your item. I've never heard of this happening either but it's probably happened to some unlucky sod.

Oh i dunno if anyone was jailed actually, that was from memory, looking around i cant find any article about anyone being prosecuted but i did find an article with some of the penalties and jail time is there

Penalties for doing so range from a $4500 fine and six months imprisonment in Queensland to a $24,000 fine and two years in jail in Victoria.

I don't know why so many limit themselves to just one console or brand. I enjoy playing any game no matter what it's on! PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360 and still even the PlayStation 2 all have many awesome games, so why not just bask in the goodness of choices?

I don't wish to belittle you but before you go saying any game or franchise is old and lame without any good reason, you might want to be sure of what you're saying is factual and that it's spelt correctly so the good people can understand the point you're failing to illustrate.

[Microsoft] are failing in Japan and they need to do their best to build up their user base in Japan.
Well, lately, they've been doing a good job (By MS + Japan standard) during all of September.
And at least the first week of October. (Still haven't seen any sales for this week, but then again, the week ends today.)

                As for Tekken?
I didn't like the initial installments in the franchise. I thought Tekken 3 was kinda meh as it came out at the time when I started to expect more from a fighter than just the same old design formula with a larger cast and improved performance in a 3D environment. Tekken 4-5 are still not my cup of tea, but I certainly believe you get plenty of bang for the buck if they're yours.

I wish Namco would do a full vs fighting game based on multiple of their franchises (or at least something including "Tales" characters). (And not just pay nods to their franchises throught the customization/creators and alternate Skins/weapons in Soul Calibur)

Fighters are just niche nowadays since they require commitment to study the engines in addition to learning moves and basics. In addition to practicing of course. The main reason I stopped playing about 2 years ago. Even the weekly meeting with other players became a chore as schedules changed etc. Don't take it too seriously

According to gamers who aren't seriously into fighters, Tekken has been the same since T2 and all about button mashing and 10 hit strings since T3 (check out some the views from 1UP's staff.. who praise SC as a "real complex series"). Even though Tekken 3 was a pivotal point in 3D fighters as it overhauled the core engine and fixed lots of issues, including control responsiveness and reaction times (instant bounce ups etc). Not to mention it paved the way for complex juggles, added depth to counters and reversals, and just frames etc. T3 generated so much revenue and remained so popular from 97 until 99 that Namco made a fan service game with TTT (which remained the most popular until T5)

VF is usually praised because most gamers can't even get past the higher learning curve of its more complex/complete engine, and think it's a mystical game because the press praises it. Then you have SC, which has the least complex engine (and depth) yet it's always praised because its breakthrough came with pretty graphics (no one paid attention to the arcade version) Its arcade life span as a series was short lived, though not as short as DOA.

Nowadays, it's really down to VF in Japanese arcades, Tekken (between Japan and Europe), SSB, and SF. Tekken and SF have the largest dedicated community of gamers, and SSB isn't far behind.

Which is all the better that T6 is going multiplatform. The genre needs to sustain itself. Quality is more certainly not an issue; looks at VF5 and its reception.

Free roaming fighters were tried out in the late 90's and didn't succeed, and there is only so much that the genre can do without losing its core. Gamers wouldn't mind a martial arts/shooter VS game in a big field nowadays labeled as a fighting game.

Anyway, have you got a stick for both consoles?

No and no. I've always considered buying one or two but I find it so differcult to execute directional combinations during a fight. Perhaps I can improve my skills with an Arcade stick when I head down to the Trocadero Centre this weekend in London to finally get my hands on Tekken 6 and hopefully Street Fighter IV aswell. Is there a stick out there you can recommend to me Umon? What do you use?

I used the same stick since 1996, the good ol' gray Namco stick. It's not the most accurate stick however, so if you're looking for true arcade feel it's Hori's Real Arcade Pro (but it's just one per system). Since you're in the UK, I'm not sure if there are people who make custom sticks. There is a US based store that does just that, and the owner recently started rolling out adapters for multi system use:

Shipping can be a bit pricey though.

well at least they're getting their series out to more people, more fans. tekken on the ps3 was one of the reasons i decided to get the ps3 in the first place (that and metal gear)

ah well things change. i'm still gonna get to play it so it doesn't really affect me. i wasn't too won over by the tekken six trailers either unfortunately, (i didn't think bryan fury needed guns) but hopefully it turns out good
