Rumor has it, that it was dropped because they didn't want people zooming in to see how crap the graphics are.
As for me, I'm picking up the game tomorrow, but I'll also be receiving a second copy to review anyway. If you go into this game expecting Dead Rising 360 with waggle, you'll be sorely disappointed. The game is pretty much a "total conversion" for Resident Evil 4, and to be quite honest I'm pretty happy with that.
Still, impressions will start hitting tomorrow =)

I don't think it was ever a real rumor. I guess I'm more easily amused than yourself...
I would love to read your impressions!
So far, I've only read the IGN review and a few opinions at neoGAF (none of them have been very positive).
I picked up the box in the shop today and I was still tempted. It looks pretty cool and I want to like it. It looks like a cartoony version of RE4 X Dawn of the Dead X Dead Rising. Some of the screen shots look okay but I've only read bad things.
Downgraded graphics, I'm okay with. Less zombies, I can accept. Wiimote only controls, I could probably put up with. But now I'm reading that zombies pop up out of thin air, a few feet away!
We already have less zombies with less pixels, so what's the f**king excuse for those crappy looking zombies to be popping up like that?! I don't understand it.
Oh, and the jumping feature has been removed and the game is now apparently very linear.
So, please tell me some good news and I might still get it...
I saw 'House of the Dead 1 & 2 Return' on special, so I grabbed that instead (along with Killzone 2).

Game is out already =P We sold all our copies today.
Most customers phoned back saying they enjoyed it (and to mention that someone really f*cked up with the printing of the manual).
I'm really enjoying it too - spent a good hour. It's not the same experience as the 360 which is why I'm really enjoying it.
More detailed impressions soon =)

There are always some zombies in the distance regardless, and you can easily take potshots.
The game is very fun and features a lot more variety in enemies than the original. If you enjoyed Resident Evil 4 in any form than I would easily recommend Dead Rising Wii. The mechanics are almost exactly the same, and the story has been streamlined into a linear story (which sounds lame but it works surprisingly well).
There are a few issues I have with how they've taken the game (IE. Cletus becomes the "merchant" after you defeat him, and he's even got a shitty chuckle everytime you buy something). The game also still has a limited inventory and lets you upgrade the maximum capacity for each of your ammo types respectively.
There's also a huge emphasis on shooting this time around - you can carry a melee weapon and equip a firearm at the same times, with the melee weapon mapped to the Waggle or A button (These take the place of light and hard hits in the original) as well as holding the trigger to aim (with weapon change being mapped to the D-Pad during aiming).
As I said before, it may not be the same game but it's surprisingly fun.

Saw the Giantbomb first look on the game, the 21min video preview on the site left me pretty much running for the hills, the game didn't look very impressive at all and I don't think the new controls do the game any favors *ignoring the hardware problems because frankly bitching about the graphics isn't worth it if the gameplay was still in tact which it didn't look to be*.
