  • Spider-Man: Web of Shadows

SO DAMN PUMPED for this game. As a huge Spidey fan, the disaster that was known as Spider-Man 3(movie AND game) disappointed me to the core. Now, Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire($25 mil a film) are inked to film Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 back-to-back...

    ...and, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, launches on October 21st on ALL major gaming consoles. E.G.;

    ...and PC.

This game features, most importantly, a revolutionized gameplay system centered around mid-air battle. Also, there will be cameos from many Spider-Man enemies(Venom, The Vulture, Electro, Black Cat, Rhino, etc.) and other characters from the Marvel Universe(Wolverine, Luke Cage, etc.). The storyline feeds heavily off of the alien symbiote storyline(Venom), but the game looks NOTHING like the terrible variance of Venom in Spider-Man 3. The symbiotes seem to be public enemy #1(as evidenced in the trailer below).

    Anyone else really excited?

Not really. I might get it when it goes budget. Sounds interesting.

Unfortunately, the only Spiderman games I've liked were the SNES ones like Maximum Carnage and Seperation Anexiety...

Maximum Carnage is one of my top 10 favorite games ever.

You never played Spider-Man 2? That game was great, and they took 10 steps back with Spider-Man 3.

This game is so special because it doesn't follow movie plotlines. It could be really, really great.

I'm not even into Spider-Man that much, but this game, I'm really looking forward to.
It really looks amazing. I'm praying it'll deliver gameplay wise.

I quite enjoyed the first Spidey on PS1. Me and my sister played that for hours on end (but it was only a demo )

Dude, that game was so ****ING hard when I was a kid...and it's even harder on an emulator on my laptop. I can barely get past the rooftop level vs. Shriek and Doppelganger before I get owned on the streets by rollerblading girls who whip me with their hair. The game was definitely meant to be a 2-player adventure, though. It's just too hard by yourself. When Spider-Man and Venom team up, it's a lot easier.

My brother and I used to play. I was always Venom.

The final level when you had to alternate in the carnage fight between Spider-Man and Venom was pretty shit hot.

It was pretty hard but I could clock it pretty easy as a kid after awhile, but Venom was definitley the Character to use, his striker/assist characters are much more attacking/useful then Spider-Man's more status/health effecting assist moves.

Who were Venom's assist characters? I can't remember.

I remember Spider-Man had Cloak...and a chick whose name escapes me...

                        * Cloak stops all movement and removes all enemies on screen.
                        * Black Cat (for Spider-Man) hits all enemies on screen, (for Venom) lands on one enemy and hits all enemies between herself and the far edge of the screen.
                        * Dagger hits all enemies, but the animation differs between Spider-Man and Venom.
                        * Firestar (for Venom) blasts all on ground enemies, (for Spider-Man) hits all enemies (aerial enemies included).
                        * Spider-Man/Venom (depending on the player character) fires the Sonic Gun.
                        * Morbius the Living Vampire (for Spider-Man) distracts all enemies, (for Venom) reduces all enemies to low health.
                        * Deathlok hits all enemies on screen.
                        * Iron Fist (for Spider-Man) completely heals him, (for Venom) kicks all enemies on screen.
                        * Captain America throws his shield, often hitting only one or zero enemies.

                        From Wikipedia

Shame Separation Anxiety was a terrible sequel.

I don't have a problem with this really, it's just an observation. Pretty much all multi-platform games lately include a PS2 version and a PS3 version. Why? I don't really get it. It seems in this case they've changed the PS2 version in order to get a lower rating?
