PS3 repair costs

has anyone on the board ever had to get there PS3s repaired, and if so how much was it usually?

I've read that if it's not under warranty, you send it to Sony and the price is $150ish to get your PS3 refurb'd.

My freind's brother cost him about £100 to get it repaired because he over heated it I think there was a fult in the fan Ill have to ask him again.
