  • Tomb Raider Underworld Demo

A demo is out if any one is interested. You can get the PC version via Steam or grab the 360 demo. I really like what Crystal Dynamics has done with Tomb Raider. The game feels real smooth and has tight controls. One thing I really like is it feels like you don't get caught up on things like you would in Legend or Anniversary. To my surprise the game runs really smooth on my setup and I'm really glad I can hold onto my current setup and not feel the need to upgrade my PC. I remember seeing the first screen shots of this game thinking I would need to buff up my PC just to play it.

I give the demo a 5/10. The only thing good about it was the amazing sound and dialogue, but the controls, animation and graphics weren't very good at all. Poor performance on my high-powered laptop, too.

Well, playing the game on the platform it's intended for mostly, i loved it. Legend and Anniversary got me back into the series in a big way and Underworld looks to be delivering more of the same.

Also makes me want to play Uncharted again haha

I am currently downloading it now. I'll give my opinion afterwards.

I TOO GIVE THE DEMO 1/10 BECAUSE IT WON'T RUN ON MY TOASTER.

Seriously, play it on 360, see how awesome the game actually is, and how it's really a return to form for the franchise and THEN come back and say what you think. I think it's a bit stupid to be drawing conclusions from something that wasn't very optimal at all.

Played it on 360. Pretty damn great, although that was to be expected as both Legend and Anniversary were fantastic.

              Uncharted is still better though.

Dammit... Why can't the demo be on PS3 too?

Tomb Raider does have one thing that surpasses Uncharted...

                Mmm, mmm, mmm...

On my not high-end notebook with with an integrated graphic card (Radeon HD3200) the game runs rather smoothly (not constant 30fps, mind you, but smooth enough ;P); and it's components are only a bit higher than the minimal system requirements...

About the demo - if it wasn't for the damn camera and ugly self-shadowing on Lara in the opening cut-scene, I would give it 9/10. It was fun to play, looks gorgeous and I like Lara's new animations.

Lara in Underworld kinda looks fugly in comparision to Legend pre-gen model and Anniversary.

Also, it looks like she's got a major wedgie in the swimsuit photos

And lastly, my graphics card is a Mobility HD 3650, which is a bit better than a 3200. Sure, the game was more than playable, but the framerate was constantly varying.

Has anyone managed to get down to the lower levels? I managed to do it, but apart from the Naga lizards, there's nothing to do down there. Still cool though

I couldn't play the demo. I installed the game without any problem but it seemed that my PC isn't that great to handle this next-gen graphics. I changed it's configuration to the lowest but it didn't work either. I'm pretty sad, I guess I'll wait until PS2 port, if there's gonna be any. My Graphic Card is a NVIDIA 7300... At least, I managed to see somes of her new movements and I love how everything was improved, they way she swims, or the way she moves. I think this TR is gonna be great. I really enjoyed Legend and Anniversary.
