A Streets Of Rage Remake would have been great. And yes also a CVX remake
I think they really need to think of a newer, more innovative way to revive the beat em up games. I mean, they could make them in the hack and slash style of Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, which is nice and fun, but only makes a B title, at best.
They need to come up with a deep fighting system which is easy to learn, difficult to master, and nicely polished. And then use that engine to remake Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, and just about every other classic beat em up series that died with the coming of 3D graphics.
Well, in a nutshell, you play a cop named Aya Brea who is faced with an enemy calling herself Eve. Eve has the capacity to not just mutate herself but others as well, because her mitochondira (the part of the cell that transforms food into energy) nare more advanced than ours and can command ours, which in turn take over our cells. Or, of course, just forces them to produce so much energy we burst into flame.
Eve then goes on the rampage in New York and Aya, whose mitcochondria are equally advanced, is the only one who can fight her.
I liked PE2 better than 1, but that's because of the obvious classic Survival Horror qualities. That and less dramatic.
But I also really enjoyed the book, which inspired the games. You should pick it up, if you like PE. It's different, not all action based, rather all about the science of it. But it's still an awesome book.
I have an advert for Parasite Eve 2 in an OPSM Australia mag. I'll have to dig it up; it's really creepy. It shows this chick's transformation into a zombie... with brown skin and blonde hair...
