It's especially frustrating when you're playing for the first time.

As I've said, I like fixed camera angles, because, just like BH EX have said, it adds to the atmosphere and makes the game more cinematic. But I just don't see how gameplay-wise those are better than a dynamic behind a character (or over the shoulder) camera.
Well, by that logic, how is RE4's gameplay better than, say Silent Hill's where you're able to strafe?
Strafing is useful and can save your life on many occasions in many different games. But Strafing is not for Resident Evil. Just because it's an extra gameplay mechanic that helps you play better doesn't mean that it should necessarily be implemented.

Maybe fixed camera angles aren't as good as over the shoulder camera for the purpose of sheer gameplay. But it's a horror game, it's not ABOUT sheer gameplay. Atomsphere plays just as big of a part in a horror game as anything.
It's not about having the easiest, most accessible mechanics. Frankly, I'd gladly sacrifice those for independent camera angles.

      • Screw a remake, a console port at least would be nice.

        • But you have to admit...a remake would be pretty wicked.

          • As long as it's for a console... Named PlayStation 3...

            • It’s pretty simple what game I would die for to be remade: Resident Evil 2

The first full remake, Resident Evil 1, was a true masterpiece, a true piece of art. If Capcom gets Jun Takeuch-San and his team of Resident Evil vets that are working on 5, and remake this instalment from scratch. I will be a happy man.

              • Code Veronica. The graphics aren't very good because it's only designed for a DreamCast system, and debately that was only slightly better than N64/PSX, one of those consoles that sit inbetween the two generations. It's a brilliant game and to see it remade would be amazing, with this gen graphics, better voice actors and expanding on the territories in the game, it could turn out to be 10 times better than the original.

Allyson Court is already great for Claire, so im assuming you mean for Steve or Alfred.

i want an RE3 Remake the most but i would mind a CVX remake as well though.

                  • Alfred and Steve definately, but I'd also like to see Alexia get a makeover as well, with a voice actor who has a voice an octave lower and sounds more mature and serious, with the next gen graphics.

Wow, that's... harsh. Sure CV graphics aren't top-notch, but they are much better than any game that was on PSX or N64.

And what would made the game 10 times better is better level design. Not only graphical-wise (why all environments are so colourful, and so empty, and so non-functional?) but also gameplay-wise level design. The backtracking in this game was so annoying (especially on Rockfort Island) - almost every locked door required different object to open, and you could find that object at the other end of the level. When I was playing this game I was really tired of this item-fetching that sometimes really felt forced, like it was there just to make game even longer.

i think that RE3 has better graphics than CVX, cause it was pre rendered.

also i never minded back tracking much except for one part with Chris on rockfort island were you have to keep putting the shotgun on the wall and make the stairs go up, then climb down into the water and yeah all that, but was the only part that ever has annoyed me before, ever.

                        • I didn't say CVX's graphics were poorer, I said the DreamCast console was only marginally better than N64/PSX. And it was. Would you class DreamCast as being on the same graphical level as the GameCube or PS2? Look at REmake compared to CVX. CVX was only ported, it wasn't remade, it still only had the graphical level of a DreamCast game. It had better graphics, but only marginally, and the gameplay was poorer than RE3 (no dodging function, having to press a button to walk up even stairs that doesn't require the "up the stairs" or "through the door" cutscene). These are all reasons that it should get remade.

                          • RE3!!! I want damn good remake of that game. I love it. And RECV was poor at every angle you see it. I didn't like it at all, I think RE3 was better in gameplay, although everyone says it has no plot I think RE3 was the best game of the series along with REmake and RE2.

RE3 Gamecube version is pretty cool, too bad they didn't include extras from Dreamcast version.

i totally agree, RE3 is my favorite as well.

i never though CVX's story was anything special and i thought RE3 had a great plot, simple but great.

and yeah RE3 and Remake are the best in the series, RE2 is good as well.

                              • I think Code Veronica could definitely benefit from a remake. To make that Wesker and Chris fight in nicer graphics... But aside from that, another major factor is not just the acting, but the script itself, it could just be a tad less dramatic. And without the annoying laughter. But frankly, most of the voice actors I'd want to return, this includes Alyson Court, naturally Richard Waugh, and honestly, I'd love to see Peter Oldring do Alfred again. But that's just because I see him on TV a lot, and I think he's pretty cool.
