    • The original RE1 didn't have auto-aim either.

      • I don't know if RE2 has it but RE3 GC version has beautiful graphics! It could've been better, I would've added to it, Sourcenext videos (without those black bars) some cool extras, like new outfits or, extras from DC version... backgrounds are enough for me... they look great.

        • Yeah, the upscale was reason enough for me to buy RE2 and 3 for GC. Although RE2 didn't have upscaled backgrounds, it still had upscaled character models, so those weren't pixelated.
Of course, this spoiled me, so I can't even play the PS1 version of either of those games anymore. Haha.

          • I suppose it wasn't too bad, but one moment sticks out clearly in my mind: When Claire walks into the S.T.A.R.S. Office and exclaims, "LEON!" The delivery on that line shatters my ear drums and my sanity.

Her voice actress did a pretty good job throughout the rest of the game, though.
Haha it's part of her personality. I have fond memories about RE2. I haven't played that much you know. But I will try to get Gamecube Version. RE3 was great, I was told RE2 GC still has pixelated background which is a big let down. Also, RE3 version has high quality sounds, I hope RE2 works the same way. I want to hear that "Leon" part again

Actualy, no, the backgrounds in RE2 aren't pixelated. They're filtered, instead of being pixelated, they're simply a little blurry.

              • Oh, that's even worse

So they are not like in RE3? Also I found pretty curious in RE3 that instead of saying "Resident Evil" the voice announcer says "Resident Evil Three" It was weird the first time I heard it.

                • Actually, no, it's not worse. It's a lot more professional to do it that way, and it's a lot less noticeable than pixelating would be.

They did it in RE3 also, for the odd backgrounds that weren't upscaled. Because RE3's backgrounds were only upscaled half the time.
Basically, you know how the intro looks in RE3, the one where Jill goes on, "It all began as an ordinary day in september..." That's how the backrounds in RE2 are. That's filtered.

                  • But the resolution of them it's better than RE2... I think.

                    • Nope. They're simply filtered. Same with the pause menu, the options screen and even the title screen. All of that is filtered from the original resolution in RE3.

                      • So RE2 and RE3 have the same treatment? Because RE3 looks pretty nice... I didn't find backgrounds blurry.

                        Comment

                        • Well, some of RE3's backgrounds weren't upscaled, some were. Like... If you play the PC version (the older PC version at least) at 640x480 resolution, you'll see which backtrounds were pixelated or not. Those that ARE pixelated were filtered in the GC version. But yeah, it doesn't horribly clash, it just doesn't look as good as those that were upscaled in RE3. Like, if the bar was pixelated in RE3, you simply wouldn't be able to see that, "This too shall pass" scratched in wood above the door, but it wouldn't horribly clash.

                          • I'd just like to butt-in, and say that REmake is one of the easiest games in the series if you're comparing Normal difficulties. Real Survival mode is a bitch, and completely devoid of fun, though.

                            • It's really not devoid of fun. There's less ammo, more difficulty, and the item boxes aren't linked. It's the funnest mode in the entire game.

Forgive me for not wanting to play a video game where more than half of the time I spend playing it is backtracking.
