Looking for survival horror games? Let's try to make a list of the "alternatives" here! And by all means post missing titles to get them added to the list!
It's actually always been "in the papers" to do some features on other games than the Resident Evil franchise, but we're kinda working a bit on and off on a lot of stuff, so I figured we could at least put up a little sticky here where we can list games. I hope my fellow moderators can help edit/add titles in the main post(s) here too. And also evt. do some purges every now and then to clean away your title submissions
Just look at the already entered titles for information on how we'd like to "keep things. For now, at least".
If you want a quick "introduction" on how I'd love it if you could list your titles, keep on reading, (and feel free to suggest a better format, but stick with this one as long as we use it and then evt. shift if this topic and the list changes to reflect a new format):
Game Title - Genre - Original Release Date - Developer/Publisher - Platforms
Game titles preferably written out with "Nice Use of the Caps, The"
(notice how words such as "of" and "the" should not have uppercase first letter if used in the middle. And how the "The" is put at the end after a comma.)
Developers/Publishers just seperated by /, basically anything to just identify the origin of the game.
Original Release Date is pretty self-explanatory.
I'm not a fan of the whole "MM-DD-YYYY" format, as various countries list those in different orders and sometimes with only YY and not YYYY, so we'll use DD-MMM-YYYY, where MMM is the 3 letter capitalized short for the release month. If a game was unreleased, don't enter a release date. If a game was planned, but canceled, for a specific platform, add the "Unreleased" as a () note after the platform name in the platform section.
Genre might seem a bit odd to have.
Basically, it refers to what type of game it is. A game like Resident Evil is Survival Horror, but some games might fit with a better description, but yet somehow belong in the horror genre.
Platforms is something we'd like to spell out, with the use of comma to seperate them. So you pretty much write: Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox 360, Windows XP/Vista, MS-DOS 6.22, etc... (OS for computers, preferably).
Also, in the case of missing information, use question marks (?). A full sample line of missing info would be: Game Title - ???/??? - ??-???-???? - ???
If you have additional notes to a title, do a new line and use a "-". Additional notes should be things worth taking note of in the game.
(Short description of the game and/or its main features. Game ID codes can also go here, if possible, even though some games might not have proper IDs 'cause of their platform of choice and weird publishing/distribution methods. International names is also a thing you can put here. Note: Resident Evil will be an exclusion to the rule of using original names for the main listing. So no BioHazard entries labeled entries, even in the odd case of titles with possibly no international release. But the use of the release date of the initial release will still be used, if Japan got it first. You may translate subtitles for games, as long as the translation is commonly used and you provide the original name as an additional note.)
Hoping to expand this thing later. Also, I'm hoping we'll see some oddities pop up here.
