  • Songs That Define Games

Well many video games have great soundtracks. However for this thread, if you could only pick one song from each game, which would it be?

Example: I have a friend who never played RE2. So he wants to know what the game is all about. I want to find a song from RE2 that captures the feeling of the game and gets him hooked.

My choice? Second Malformation of G

Now you're being unfair, the game had some good tracks like the save room theme and Wesker Theme from the Mercenaries.

Silent Hill: Silent Hill, Not Tomorrow 2.
Silent Hill 2: Theme Of Laura, True, Promise, Waiting For You. (I am aware WFY is on the 4th soundtrack, but it fits SH2 more.)
          Silent Hill 3: Hometown, deffinitly.
Silent Hill 4: Cradle Of Forest, Tender Sugar.

None of them struck me like they did in RE1, 2, and 3.

And there's barely any music anyway (at least in my version).

Metal Gear Solid. The whole series was defined by the melody that was consisdent in MGS1, 2 and 3 soundtracks. Unfortunately they had to pull the plug on that theme... Because of legal issues as I understand it...

All the music from the Mercenaries was ripped off from a game called P.N. 03. Not even ripped off, just taken the tracks as they were, and pasted them into RE4. Now, PN03 was Mikami's game, so there's no legal issues, but still. The point is that the best music in RE4 wasn't even made FOR RE4.

BioEX is right, music from RE4 Mercenaries was taken from P.N 03... like they took Jill's model to build up Vanessa.

Final FAntasy IX melodies of life
Reason: its such a sad song but at the same time its one of the best
                          Final fantasy X to zanarkand
reason: its a song that i respond well with. the total opiano opening is better than most piano remakes of FF songs

Though, gotta admit, the songs just aren't as awesome without hearing "RRRAAAAHHH" and the boss fights themselves.
