Kefka from Final Fantasy 6. He poisoned the waters, killing tons of people, he wants to annihilate existence...for fun. He has some of the best one liners ever too. Truly unforgettable character.

Elijah Modnar from Hideo Kojima's Snatcher was a pretty chilling guy, to say the least... The main character of the game pissed him off one too many times, which resulted in Elijah eradicating well over half of the world's population, putting it into a greater depression than ever before in history. He also created the Snatchers (which basically a cross between the androids in Blade Runner and the Thing creature from John Carpenter's movie of the same name; they can kill and then imitate humans, infiltrating society), which further depleted the world's population and drew the world into a seemingly impending apocalypse. Not only that, but he kidnapped the main character's ex-wife and his own father from hospital in order to continue mass producing the Snatchers. For the love of your fellow man, do not piss this man off...

Now we don't need to play Snatcher!

Also, the bioroids were nothing like the Thing. They were more akin to the T-800 series from the Terminator franchise. Mechanical endoskeletons with artificial skin covering. The 'Thing' on the other hand was an extraterrestial biological entity. Snatcher was a very good game, it would serve them well to re-release it on the DS where graphic adventures such as the Phoenix Wright series are incredibly popular. Unfortunately, everyone and their brother is too busy riding the oiled phallus of Hideo Kojima and Metal Gear Solid. Balls to MGS. I loved MGS1 and the MetalGear games, but fuck the series now. It's played by the same kind of pissweasel that considers themselves to be a triple-star general just because they read literature by Tom Clancy and are ranked fifth in the world on Rainbox Six Vegas. The story is convoluted and asinine, and essentially a colossal retcon that lobotomised the original charm of the first game and then screwed it with pretentious tosh. Just look at the mass cockhive of fans clamouring over Big Boss, need I remind you kids that the man was responsible for bringing the world to the brink of nuclear holocaust, and that he held the world to ransom with WMDs and raised child soldiers? Suddenly all of that doesn't seem to matter anymore, because hey he knows CQC, and don't we all love CQC? Oh, and The Boss too.

Hell with MGS. Hell with Kojima. Just wait for the English translation for Policenauts and be done with it.

Believe it or not, but I used to be a fan of the series.

Comeon now, Spencer. Now youre just venting. Maybe you just hate it because its "popular"?

Because if you were serious, you should have known that Rainbow Six Vegas has nothing to do with Tom Clancy. Clancy universe has nothing to do with MGS and that Clancy novels are at least moderately entertaining.

Furthermore, the hardcore tactical generals of the Tom Clancy league hate MGS series with a passion.

Besides, wouldnt you agree that complaining about the lack of realism in a videogame is somewhat ignorant, when youre watching Die Hard for Christmas?

            ;)

Dude, Die Hard is one of the best Christmas movies EVER. To me, nothing says Christmas more than breaking a Euro-terrorist’s neck, putting a Santa hat on his dead body and writing Ho-Ho-Ho on his sweater.

A-men. Im just pointing out that looking for realism in our interactive forms of entertainment is silly. Tap the keys, snap some necks, eat some popcorn.

I agree with you on all of that, actually. I always felt that Big Boss is an overrated character. The Boss is the most overrated character in the series for me though.

                  Hell with MGS.
After the massive disappointment that was MGS4, I'm inclined to agree.

                  Hell with Kojima.
                  I can't condemn my favourite game designer/writer/director.

Just wait for the English translation for Policenauts and be done with it.
Oh don't worry, I am indeed.

You can hate on MGS4 all you want, but MG2-MGS3 are all classics. Nowt wrong with them if you're a fan. Just ignore MGS4 and you're set.

Hey, at least you had the decency to give me a mature response to my post instead of making some unnecessary allusion to Die Hard. What did that have to do with anything? I don't know though, the original game is very close to my heart, and I used to like Kojima. I thought he had some interesting concepts, and I liked that he was a bit of a film buff, and this was demonstrated with Snatcher and Policenauts, which are both just dripping with film references. Guilty as charged, I'll have to check out Narc now. =P

Unfortunately, Kojima has gone the way of anime and what used to be a rational, mature interest has now degenerated into widespread, mainstream rabid fangirlism. RE is going down the same avenue, you only need to look at nonsense like this:

DeviantArt is the world's largest online social community for artists and art enthusiasts, allowing people to connect through the creation and sharing of art.

                    Not safe for work.

Like I said. Youre looking for realism in videogames while watching movies where everyone is a snapshooting hero from the West supermansharpshooting god of automatic firearms... all while shooting from the hip. To this day, even though Die Hard is one of my most favourite movies, I grind my teeth every time someone gets toasted shooting off hand, off hip. As the time progresses I have started to like it when professionalism was involved in moviemaking (see excellent tactical flashlight use in "Street Kings") but I never forget that realism has never been the most important thing unless its the theme.

Haha! Luckily one has to register to view it. Dont tell me, Krauser erotica?

Anyhow, I just dont see why the hate for the series. It provides some of the most epic storylines, greatest characters that actually have some depth to them and the voice acting makes the games into interactive movies, which is kind of what the series seemed to aim for in the first place. I can see the condescending tone in such a heavy plot but seriously- with so many different games out there, dont you think someone had to take that niche?

The way I see it, it just boils down to dislike because it has become popular. Thats like hating popmusic and pop-artists simply because majority loves them.

Why have you brought this arguement into it? I wasn't even discussing anything remotely about realism in films, or videogames. In fact, realism is a problem. I watch films for entertainment, not reality. If I wanted realism, I would go outside and mingle with society. You're making up arguements that don't exist, my point was against fanboys, that was it. If I think a certain series is overrated, then I'll say it.

Its an example of your opinion not being based on your own standards. If theres a spectrum of "fanboyage", and on one end you see someone getting wet over a series, the other end represents a hater. No need to go into overdrive, Im just pointing out the inconsistency here.

Theres a lot more wrong with a hardcore Clancy fan, than that. Seems like a typical argument between "hardcore OMG!" fanboys. You wouldnt lable all RE fans as pretentions cocks just because someone has a rather obscene fetish for Jills skirt? ;)

That page is entertaining to say the least.

Unless youre playing a sniper sim (like Sniper Elite), theres no stealth involved in sniping. Its raw hand-eye coordination.
