Whoa. Now after 18 reviews, Uncharted 2 still stands with a Metacritic score of 98. That's...wow.
Metacritic aggregates music, game, tv, and movie reviews from the leading critics. Only Metacritic.com uses METASCORES, which let you know at a glance how each item was reviewed.
Drake Fortune is a pretty cool guy. Eh reveiws highly and doesn't afraid of anything.

I played a few death match's tonight to get my feet wet with the controls. I sorta tanked on the first 2 but picked it up with 5 kills on my 3rd match. Sucks that there's lvl 20 people already, I was kind of afraid of that from the beginning. I must say though that this is going to be a fantastic game to play A LOT!!!

There were people with levels in the 30's when the thing wasn't public... but surprisingly there really wasn't massive advantages to levels, other than just learned skills from playing so often. The perks only gave them a little bit of extra ability, and the whole thing is quite even. I found as well since it went public the game does try to put you with people roughly in your skill range too where possible.Last edited by Rombie; 09-30-2009, 02:38 AM.

Yeah, I'm a level 32, and the n00bs are extremely noticeable as I seem to always get stuck with them on my team. It's one thing to be unfamiliar with the game, but it's a completely different thing to just do stupid things like stand still in the middle of the map with your pistol out or teamkill with grenades. It's people like this that leave me in a spot where I need to get 20+ kills to even have a chance at victory.
I've been playing the Beta for two weeks, and have learned a lot. Here are some tips:
#1. Get familiar with blindfire and melee attacks. If you're close enough to an enemy, shoot them blindly a few times, and then run up and finish them off with a melee attack. Standing still while firing will get you killed often. I don't know how many times I've beat the shit out of someone who's tried to aim and fire at me, and I just run right past their aim-sights while blindfiring, and then crack them across the head with the butt of an assault rifle. It's the best combat tactic in the game.
#2. Use your grenades. Don't just hold L2 to see the target reticle come up(the grenade won't go very far art all), aim at someone like you're going to fire by holding L1, and then tap L2. The grenade will go almost exactly where you aim.
#3. Get familiar with where all of the power weapons are. Grenade Launcher, Desert Eagle, RPG, M4. You start out with an AK-47 and there are FALs everywhere, but the M4 is a beast assault rifle. The DE is a two-hit kill, and the explosive weapons are, well, explosive.
#4. The only boosts I ever use are Keep Firing and Down The Sights. Keep Firing adds more ammo to every weapon you hold, which is great because if not, you don't get too much ammo at all and will run out pretty quickly. Down The Sights increases your accuracy with long-range weapons and immediately makes you a better shooter.

Just to add to CR29's post, the shotgun is also a 2 hit kill weapon, which can either be a blessing or a complete pain in the ass. The first shot usually stuns you/drops you to a knee, leaving you completely open for the finishing blow. One shotgun only holds 6 shells, I can't remember how much the other holds.
And sadly this needs to be said, since a majority of players (that always land on our team anyway), don't stick together at the right times. They'll completely go off on their own during plunders, death matches, and chain reactions...but will stand very close together in RPG death matches making it oh so easy to get multiple deaths for your team. It's best to always keep at least one person on your time completely in your sights, that way you can cover them and they can watch your back as well.sigpic
Are you tired, Rebecca?

I loved the first Uncharted and the sequel will be a day one buy for me. But here's my rather sad experience on the demo:
Cool, an Uncharted 2 demo!!! Start downloading...
I leave my PS3 running and go to work. I come home, watch some tv, then 13 hours after starting the download, it's done.
Install the game. Boot the game.
WTF? it's multi-player only! You gotta be kidding me!
I watch the trailer. Looks AWESOME! I'm pumped for the game.
Oh well, I may as well try and join a game and see what happens.
I wait another 10 minutes while it goes through all the connecting stuff. Then I'm in a match. Wooo Hooo, it's GO TIME!!!
There's some guys around me with green arrows over there heads. I guess I don't shoot them... We run forward. I see an AK47 on the ground and pick it up. Why can't I move? I'm stuck! Waiting... Ah, I can move again. I move out into the open. BANG! I'm hit by a sniper and killed instantly.
Respawning in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... I'm back in it. It's time to KICK SOME ASS!
I move forward and see a riot shield. Cool, that could be handy. I pick it up and I freeze again. I can't move or do anything. Waiting... OK I can move again. I head out into the open. 3 guys pop out from cover and start shooting at me. I can't move. I'm frozen again. The game continues on around me. People are still shooting at me and I would have died again but I'm actually frozen while hiding behind the shield. After at least 5 seconds I can finally move again. I fire 2 bullets and then I'm suddenly pulled from the game to a screen saying "connection lost".
I quit the game.
I delete the demo from my HDD.
The end...

Yeah, I know there's nothing wrong with the demo.
It's my shitty connection. It's not fast enough.
I was just showing an example of why all these multi-player online features in games are completely useless to me.
All I can do online is download stuff, play some poker or pool in Home and post fastest times/highest scores on leader boards.
For me it's all about the single player story modes etc...
It's a shame that style of gaming seems to be becoming an old gaming dinosaur's way of thinking.
