Whew!
Aside from the new MP trophies added to UC2, I now have all but 1 trophy on this (and the original) and that is to finish both games on Crushing difficulty.
Very fun, but with a bunch of new games to play and coming out soon I'll give them both a break and pick them up and finish both laterLast edited by Rombie; 02-19-2010, 07:50 AM.

I thought I'd give the new patch a go. After a week, I've realised that it's just no fun anymore.
After 'rebalancing' health and weapon damage, it's basically become another generic 'who sees who first' shooter.
Hopefully the game isn't fun anymore like you say. That would mean I've lost my favorite multiplayer game.sigpic

It's really disappointing. The levels were designed around the old damage values. So now, if you have to cross a large area, or climb a high wall. In the old patch if you got seen, you could probably make it across/up, and then hide in cover to heal. Now, because it's so easy to die, you just can't.
I often find myself falling over dead before I can turn the camera to see where I'm being shot from. In the old patch you could hide, and then use a strategy to try take out the guy/s. Don't even think of killing more than 1 person at once in the new patch.
I've gone from greatly anticipating the DLC to not even going to bother - all within the space of a week. And I only gave it a week as to convince myself that I haven't made a rash analysis.Last edited by TheSelfishGene; 02-22-2010, 03:47 PM.sigpic

Naughty Dog: "We're Listening."
Sounds good, or so I hope. After thinking about it, I think they jumped the gun on the new patch. They should have just added it as a completely new playlist. It's not really the smartest idea to change something radically after players have had months of being used to something else.
EDIT***The only people that probably really love the changes are campers. "Strategic" and "tactical" my ass. There's nothing "strategic" and "tactical" about hiding in a corner shooting people. It does suck ND changed it. If people want to camp, go play MW 2. The thing i loved about UC2's multiplayer was that you really had to work for your kills. You had to set the pace. You had to get in front of people's grills and fuck their shit up. You had to play aggressively to be really good.Last edited by valentinesdead?; 02-24-2010, 07:38 PM.sigpic

I haven't played much of the MP of the full game, but I loved that about the beta that you had to work for it. On the flip side it was, as Gene said, fair too because it allowed you to be able to escape sometimes as well if you were clever and lucky enough to hide and heal.
I'll be waiting a bit longer till they look on being more fair perhaps.

I'm so utterly hooked on the multiplayer, and am having a lot of success as well...i'm just frustrated that the Naughty Dog site isn't updating for me, i love to look at my records when i'm done with a game. It's currently showing me as a level 6, when i'm now upto a level 11.
And what is with people taking up shelter in the rocket launcher spot on The Temple?! Surely it's a case of take and run? Lost count of the people i've taken out just by lobbing a grenade against one of it's four pillars!
Some photos...

I'll continue to plug away at it (maybe I just need to adjust to the changes), but it is frustrating to have become accustomed to the old style and now be presented with this clusterfuck.
I can see the new system appealing to newcomers, as it is much easier to amass money (more medals) and level up quicker. But the tinkering that Naughty Dog did feels like a step in the wrong direction, IMO.
The new health system is more realistic, but now it encourages more "hide in one spot and take potshots" gameplay, rather than the aggressive, free-roaming activeness of the old build.
Frustrating...and less fun.

MP mode is still really fun, even with my slight dissatisfaction with the new health system. But a new-to-me problem exists with assholes "glitching" during matches. There are certain players that know how to climb out of the established environment and hang off the ledges of the void which exists outside of the map. From there they cannot be harmed and are free to shoot other players.
This is especially troubling when you are in an elimination match, and are guaranteed to lose when you cannot attack the final player (or multiple players) "glitching." The best you can do is hope they do not have a sniper rifle, and take cover at a far end of the map. Unfortunately, you often find out too late.
I hope ND fixes this soon.

I'll just leave this here.
Title Update 1.06 will be released on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 10:00 AM PST (what time is that in my city?). After that time, you will be prompted to download and install Title Update 1.06 when you connect online to UNCHARTED 2 multiplayer.
Title Update 1.06 includes a couple under-the-hood fixes we needed to make that don’t affect gameplay. Beyond that, we’ve also made the following updates:
* Removed automatic shoulder selection when players click the L1 shoulder button to aim
* Delayed the appearance of the scoreboard to allow time for players to view any medals received simultaneously with player death
At the same time the Title Update is released, we’ll also be pushing live updates to other aspects of our multiplayer. These updates include:
* Adjusted hitbox attributes so that players will take less damage to the character’s legs
* Decreased kill radius of grenades by 1 meter
* Decreased accuracy of Down the Irons by 15%
* Reduced rate of fire of the FAL by 10%
* Reduced rate of fire for the Dragon Sniper by 10%
* Collision and geometry changes to “The Fort” to prevent intentional glitching by players
We’ll be keeping an eye on how these changes work out in-game and, as usual, through your comments, forum posts and Twitter. See you online!
