            On a side note I beat it starting on hard in about 12 hours between the last couple nights. All I have to say is WOW. It will take a helluva huge effort for anything to come close to being as good as this game is.

That already shows that he might be slightly more unscrupulous than the common man. Thus, he does NOT die and Nate doesn't go against his principles displayed in the conversation with Flynn. In the world of Uncharted 2, apparently that distance is not life threatening, as Drake and Sully also drop a similar distance when they escape from goons after obtaining the Phurba dagger/key. So your argument that Drake knew he was going to "kill" the guard is moot.

                As for the countless other guys slaughtered (all soldiers like the one in your funny comic) - well, Drake knew that they were most likely going to kill him, and they all possessed weapons. You can try to stealthily sneak around and subdue them that way, but it is mostly impossible to do. And then they start shooting at you so you have no choice but to kill them. Plus, it's a part of the game. Kill or be killed.

                It's still a proportional response in accords with the situation at hand.

                Unlike a disproportionate response where over-coifed emo hero Leon uses a magnum to blow off the face of a slowly approaching village woman holding a steak knife. He could have run past the shambling woman, and later informed the Spanish government that there was an infection ravaged area of their nation, and suggested that they use the Plagas removal device (used on himself and Ashley) to later cure the simple villagers/farmers. But I guess since Leon's only priority was to save Ashley, slaughtering thousands of weak Ganados didn't matter. Shit, even if there were infected pandas in rural Spain, Leon would have had no problem emptying a clip into them.
