^Spoiler:
While the guard did plummet a distance that would very much cause death, if you look closely you can see him swimming with a breast stroke after he lands in the water. So, not dead.
And why are we spoiler tagging such an insignificant moment in the game?Last edited by Jill's Boob; 10-19-2009, 07:31 PM.

Unless Nate has precognitive abilities, then the fact that the guy survived the fall doesn't really make a difference. There's no way he could have known beforehand that the fall wouldn't kill the guard. If he was really so adamant about only incapacitating the guards, then he wouldn't have pulled such a risky maneuver in the first place. The chances were far greater that the guard would die as a result of the fall (we're talking hundreds of feet here). Judging from his attitude at the beginning of the chapter, you'd think that would be a risk Nate would not be willing to take.Last edited by Archelon; 10-19-2009, 07:52 PM.

Spoiler:
If you continue to look down you can see the guard swimming off.
On a side note I beat it starting on hard in about 12 hours between the last couple nights. All I have to say is WOW. It will take a helluva huge effort for anything to come close to being as good as this game is.Last edited by Agent_Wong; 10-19-2009, 09:09 PM.

As for the guard yanked from the ledge...is it possible to hang from the ledge, shimmy around and then climb up and put the guy in a sleeper hold - or do you HAVE to pull him over the side? I haven't tried it, so I don't know yet; still, it might be possible. Either way, if you do pull the guy off the ledge, he falls into the water, and can be seen moving after he lands. Thus, he does NOT die and Nate doesn't go against his principles displayed in the conversation with Flynn. In the world of Uncharted 2, apparently that distance is not life threatening, as Drake and Sully also drop a similar distance when they escape from goons after obtaining the Phurba dagger/key. So your argument that Drake knew he was going to "kill" the guard is moot.
As for the countless other guys slaughtered (all soldiers like the one in your funny comic) - well, Drake knew that they were most likely going to kill him, and they all possessed weapons. You can try to stealthily sneak around and subdue them that way, but it is mostly impossible to do. And then they start shooting at you so you have no choice but to kill them. Plus, it's a part of the game. Kill or be killed.
It's still a proportional response in accords with the situation at hand.
Unlike a disproportionate response where over-coifed emo hero Leon uses a magnum to blow off the face of a slowly approaching village woman holding a steak knife. He could have run past the shambling woman, and later informed the Spanish government that there was an infection ravaged area of their nation, and suggested that they use the Plagas removal device (used on himself and Ashley) to later cure the simple villagers/farmers. But I guess since Leon's only priority was to save Ashley, slaughtering thousands of weak Ganados didn't matter. Shit, even if there were infected pandas in rural Spain, Leon would have had no problem emptying a clip into them.Last edited by Jill's Boob; 10-20-2009, 03:47 PM.
