  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Just an announcement, but a welcome one. Infinity Ward has the next Call of Duty, and it's placed in modern times again. Fucking awesome, especially for fans of CoD4. I haven't picked up World at War yet...I probably will eventually, but I'm definitely more of a modern warfare kind of guy. It's due tentatively for a Fall 2009 release.

So they're actually releasing a game ever year now. Are they really that substantial an upgrade to warrant yet another purchase?

    I'll take Uncharted 2 instead, thanks. =P

(I realise they aren't exactly the same but I am almost certain Uncharted will be more of a sequel than CoD6)

I guess their idea is, Modern Warfare, WWII, Modern Warfare, WWII, every other year?

I'm not sure. Regardless, I loved CoD4, and I'm pumped for some more modern guns and settings.

How stupid. They're gonna be spitting two out per year at this rate.

Nah, more like one per year. Infinity Ward has odd years, Treyarch has even years...at this rate.

I looked it up, and there's an oddly small number of games about the Vietnam war. I want something new about the Vietnam war too.

Devs are afraid of making a Vietnam game because you won't sell many copies of a game rated AO(Adults Only).

Well, that's their problem. Nobody is forcing them to create an interactive replica of Full Metal Jacket.
There have been plenty of Vietnam related movies which had no explicit content, (like Tour of Duty, the series). So obviously just relating to Vietnam doesn't HAVE to involve an AO rating.

No, but it should involve an AO rating. That war was grisly as shit.

Yeah, but AO is just there... Which game has been rated AO? Seriously... Manhunt was grisly, it got an M. AO and EC are both just something that's there. I saw a game that on the box said "Recommended age 3 - 6", and still it was rated E.

i agree, we need more Vietnam games, and COD in Vietnam would be awesome.

nah it switches between Infinity Ward and Treyarch, so they get about 2-3 years to make each game still.

I was also hoping for a Vietnam COD, but modern warfare was very good.

I was just thinking...if this really is a sequel to COD4...do you guys think Soap MacTavish will be the main character again?
