Has any of THIA-s MW2 players (or COD players in general) come across IW-s forums and the massive, colossal dump that was dropped on the PC gamers? Ive always wanted to draw those attention to the subject, who were really looking forward to MW2.
IW forums have been a massive mess ever since 402 came out with the news that there were no dedicated servers planned for MW2, and it sparked a shit-storm I have never, ever seen anywhere on the net, when it comes to videogames. What made matters worse, was several issues that followed- IW/ACT basically stopped giving out any real news about the game and 402 now only communicated to COD fanbase via twitter (not the official forums). The forums are littered with people complaining their heads out, more and more as time passes, with no answer from any IW-s representatives. And my own personal favourite, a little off the main issue- but apparently theres a wallhack/aimbot in development for the PS3, which starts the beginning of a major change in how console multiplayer gaming will look like in the future.
To give you a comparitive example, not even the tazed kid got as much media publicity.
Quite honestly, as a videogamer, what happened in October-through-December has been one of the most important events in modern videogame history which long term effects now depend solely on how BFBC2 release will go.
I came across this personally, yes. I played a copy of MW2 on the PC for a bit and noticed all of that.
If you complain about 1887/Ranger Akimbo users and the marathon/lightweight knifers then you aren't playing the game correctly. Those faggots are easily dealt with if you understand their very typical movements and attack patterns.
Enlighten us on how to combat the knifers, because the only time they really get on my nerves is when I see them running at me, and I begin to fire my gun. I put 5-6 shots into them, they don't die, and proceed to knife me from 15 feet away thanks to that fucking stupid Commando perk.

Use your eyes to see them coming?? I dunno man. Equip thermal sights and heartbeat sensors if that doesn't work. I'm just saying, I typically get them far before they get me. Maybe it's because I just snipe.

Im boycotting MW2 on PC, so I havent played it, although Ive kept my eye on the issue since day one.
Im one of the people who would abuse the system if I could (no glitching, or exploitation of games technical flaws, no cheating, though), I have done it in every multiplayer game Ive played. And the simple fact is that unless youre a better player than I am (in general terms, as an example), or are more efficient at what I do, you stand no chance. The inbalances in perks and weapons is going to become more severe with time as the skill level of players increases.
Using specific techniques in BF2, I could win games against the entire 32 man opposing team, without firing a single shot. Inbalanced weapons and techniques, not originally intended by the developers will break the game once more dedicated or talented gamers start abusing the system "to the max".
The difference in attention to balance, between two games, is colossal.
And yeah, I see youre also a firm believer in the "STFU and get over it / adapt and overcome" attitude, trust me, I am too. But when I game turns into a battle of who can exploit its shortcomings better than others, the whole idea of "choice" between all those perks and gear becomes obselete.
Which is why COD4 was such a great success. The balance between perks and weapons lead up to a point when an interesting observation was made in 2007. The forums (for PC communities for COD4) had no topics/threads about weapon inbalance. This is unheard of since 2004 when I first stepped into the scene.
But anyway, I havent even skimmed the surface on whats going on in the PC version of MW2. Im assuming youre not a PC gamer, so you may not know how the games work. The difference between a "dedicated server" and "P2P matchmaking" means that the players will no longer have control over who and when visits their server, which is immensely important on PC because of-
A) Ease of typing (cant kick/ban people for inappropriate behaviour)
B) Ease of cheating (cant kick people for exploits/ cheating)

Right now, people are reporting an average of one "gamebreaking cheater" in every 4th game (gamebreaking would mean that theres nothing you can do about him, or against him).
The way VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) works is that it collects all offenders and issues a collective ban every couple of weeks/months. Which means that during that time, theres nothing to stop a cheater or someone behaviourally challenged to play at any time, anywhere.
Theres of course a number of other issues, but the basic gist is. PC gamers got handed a severely inferior option to play MW2 in multiplayer mode. The game as a whole is not on par with COD4 and the developers have been ignoring the community for months now.
[EDIT] If you care for a reading and are genuinely interested in whats going on, without having to swim through IW forums, I could throw down a post of somesort. But I would like this conversation to stay away from "Adapt and overcome" lectures, met with accusations and insults over how someone plays their game, as these conversations usually go down that path.
I'm not gonna read a 10 paragraph response to a comment I made about a video game, no offense.
I understand. The bottomline was that theres more going on than just on the console front. And the issues on consoles can easily be blamed on the overall lack in quality (starting from hit detection/ netcode all the way up to balancing methods and philosopy).

Did you even read my post? I do see them, and I shoot them enough times to kill them(I often use Stopping Power Pro), but they still have the ability to somehow survive all of my bullets and knife me through a hail of gunfire. That's what pisses me off.
As for the 1887's, the last patch was supposed to balance them out...but I played the game maybe twice since the patch came out so I don't know what the difference is. The range on those things was pretty goddamn ridiculous, though.
They did fix them, but if they have FMJ attached, they do the range before the patch. IW must have forgotten to patch them with FMJ.
Really? I had no idea. I thought they did fix it, since those kewl doods are now using the Ranger Akimbo set-up. My favorite is killing them then using their 1887s on them, since they always come back and try to get revenge on me, a lowly level 32
The way IW patches weapons right now smells like how DICE patched their games in 2004-2007.
Vocal minority of people who play the game solely for stats and .JPEG medals: "WE CANT SHOOT DOWN JETS OR CHOPPERS!"
Jet and chopper pilots: "Here- "*guide on how to take us down*"!"
*Vocal minority moves to citymaps*
*DICE patches in insta-kill "loco" anti-air missiles*
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
Infantry starts teamkilling for Anti-Air placements and the pilots cry their hearts out
*DICE nerfs Anti-Air*
*Infantry players move to city maps, open maps are largely deserted*
I never thought I would see this in a Call of Duty game.
I don't understand how you guys can bitch so much about a video game. If you don't like it, don't play it and return it. Easy.
Its odd that youre willing to just shrug off an entire half of the spectrum of opinions just because you find that every discussion should only be about the positives in a certain subject. Hiding from the problem doesnt make the problem go away. And sometimes problems make for a much better conversation. Its not like people are going to cut wrists over a videogame...

Uh, what I'm saying is if you don't like a piece of entertainment then don't use that piece of entertainment. It seems like everything to you is much more dramatic than it really is/should be.
