Too soon for a "major" MG title to be announced. I'm guessing another portable game, or a probable upgrade version of MGS4 (likely multiplatform).

The compressed MGS4 quite a bit, and ended up with a 46.6GB ISO, so it could be interesting.

Well, the upside down i, or the ! could indicate that it is another Acid game. And heck, if you want to consider the color issue. Green is the stereotypical color of acid, isn't it?

EDIT: But no, I don't think it's too early to announce the next major MG game. Afterall, MGS3 came out in November 2004, and that very first teaser of MGS4 was released in May 2005, which is 6 months... And hey, it's 6 months since the release of MGS4.

MGS3's teaser didn't come out 6 months after the release of MGS2; that's what I meant by "major".

And yeah, green associate with the series is the colour of jungles so this could very well mean a variety of things, one of which is a PSN/XBL port of the earlier games.

A port of MG1 and 2 would be cool. I mean, not everyone got a chance to pick up Subsistence.

But still, MGS4 was major. I mean, it's like with MGS4. Maybe we're not gonna get a full blown trailer of the new game, but possibly a teaser or something of the sort.

I would love a remake of the first two Metal Gear games since they were made in 8 bit.

I doubt that's what it is. I mean, they are saying the "next" metal gear. I'm betting it's something new entirely.

Now, see, if I were to go into that RE5 demo thread and say, "Hell with RE5," I would surely get bitched out.

Ugh, can't this over-rated series just die? It's more movie than game anyway

If Resident Evil is still alive, I think every other series in the world still deserves to be alive.

Ahh, yes. While I was taking 3 tests today, things have happened. Very interesting.

Of course, people began saying "OMGZ XBOX" because of the symbol.
Well, shit, it's the universal symbol for power. My PS3 has it also. So those people are idiots. A closer look at the formula:

                          i + ! = Power

                          i...iPhone?
                          !...this is MGS. !

Metal Gear Ac!d? Notice the I in Acid. It's an exclamation point.

Never played the Acid games, not into card battles and that crap.

                          So here's my final verdict:

I digress. It's all speculation at this point. It's riveting stuff. I don't know what it could be...but I'm praying it's MG and MG2 remakes. Who even knows when whatever this is will be announced, either. When's the next gaming convention? I believe GDC is in March. Can we wait that long? Or is something in the coming days? Shit.

Whatever it is, I hope there's no more retconning...end of story.

EDIT: I just saw something interesting on NeoGAF.

The power button is green and symbolizes "go". Go in Japanese means the number 5.

The plus indicates Portable Ops Plus director Yamamoto, who will be directing this? (Kojima has said he won't direct MGS5)

                          Thats all I got

                          Very interesting.

                            Yeah, but speculation is awesome.

I'm hoping for a start of a new canon.

What ChrisRedfield29 and Biohazard EX said. No more retconning, new everything please (characters, story etc). I'm guessing the next Metal Gear will be directed by Murata (co-director of both MGS3 and 4, as well as the director of Zone of the Enders 2).

As for this little hype button that Konami are attempting to press, unfortunately for us, it's looking more and more like it will be something for the iPod or something to do with AC!D. Which isn't a bad thing, but it's just that so many people were getting hyped over fuck all. It also means that the PR guys over at Konami are earning their salary.
