Umbrella Chronicles: Umbrella's End, Chris and Jill partake in ludicrous stunts such as a 30 ft jump off a staircase, and bullet time dodging a booby trapped room of lasers in almost as ridiculous fashion as Leon in RE4.
If you're going to hate on RE by referencing Leon's antics, at least criticise the Holy Couple of Jill and Chris for doing the same.

But you know, the one thing about Umbrella Chronicles that was better than RE0 was that UC never had the white mage robe Marcus. Which I bring up because he looked like a Final Fantasy character in that robe. And the fact that UC didn't have him made it better at least in that one aspect.
Which means, the lack of Final Fantasy like elements in Resident Evil is a good thing.

I find it funny the question was asked about two completely different genres that would end up with only peoples personal preference, and have nothing to do with "which is better".
Final Fantasy went bad at 7, and Resident Evil went bad at 4.
Final Fantasy 12's graphics weren't that good and the best will always be 4 and 6.
Final Fantasy doesn't suite 3D, and Resident Evil doesn't suite action.
But as I said, this comes down to personal preferences.
I have had my say in this.

High end previous generation maybe. But FF12 didn't even look as good as God of War.

Well, you can't judge a game by its pre-rendered cinematics. I mean, if you put that into consideration, then God of War is better than anything this generation has EVER shown us. Hell, even Resident Evil 3 is awesome by today's standards if you compare pre-rendered cinematics to today's real time gameplay.

At least C&J's laser dodge was slightly believable. They dodged maybe a total of 6-8 lasers, all spaced out with lots of room between them. (Also, they could have just walked out the open door behind them.)
In RE4, Leon dodges upwards of 20 lasers (combined) at a time. Three times in a row. And he does it with literally half a second of time to process the possible pattern of the mobile lasers. He contorts his body perfectly TWICE, then on the third assault, he runs up a wall to about 10 feet off the ground to backflip over the lasers in their one weak point which is along the ceiling. There's video on youtube of this...just watch it and see how stupidly farfetched the 3 dodges are. Utter, utter trash. Not cool. Just ridiculous.
*If Chris dodges any lasers in RE5, I will literally projectile vomit at my television.
