  • Thinking about getting a 360.

I found out some info on how to pick out the Jasper Xbox units so I'm thinking of heading out and getting the console after Christmas. I have some questions though since I'm not into the whole pay to play online thing. Can you play any 360 game for free or must you pay for the service on all game? Do the Xbox units come with built in WiFi or must I buy the dongle separately? What do you suggest are some good games for the console that are not already out on PC? I know for sure that I will be getting Tales of Vesperia and Dead Rising but can you suggest anything else? I'm mostly into RPG's and FPS. I figure I would get the most out of what the Xbox Arcade has to offer until I see more stellar titles come out. One reason I want one as well is to play the Resident Evil 5 demo. I have the files on disc but can you still play the game? I read MS put a block on this. Last but not least would you prefer a PS3 over the 360 for whatever reasons? I already have Blu-ray player so that selling point is kind why I leaned away from the console.

Xbox Live is needed for every Xbox 360 game online.
My Xbox model is from 2006, so I don't know if the new ones have wifi but mine deffinitly doesn't.
RE5 demo SHOULD play on CD, don't know otherwise.
And I prefer Playstation 3 because of it's multi-media, internet browser, and the free online.

      I think I got a 360 for Christmas.

My mom only wraps one layer, so I can read the words 'Left 4 Dead' and 'Gears of War' through the wrapping paper.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping to see if I could find those Xbox cards that give you so many free months. I kind of leaned toward the Xbox since I thought a lot of the guys and gals on THIA have them. Plus I figure online play would be easy to do. Overall any high profile release I will get on my PC even if I have to wait a few months. I guess I'm back to my "if I get one for free" motto but I just can't see myself using the PS3 or 360 that much unless I can find a few games that can hold me off for months to come like I can on PC. I guess I'll give it more time until I make my decision. I made the mistake of getting a DC back in the day and struggled to find fun stuff to play on it. So this is why I want to put my money where it is worth the investment.

the 360 is worth it. if you buy the arcade and the 60bg pacl its the same as the 299 60gb unit. aslo stores like FYE try to get rid of consoles so they other stuff like 50=100 rebates on 360s they even had the 60gb in my neighborhood for the 300 but offered a 50 dollar rebate on it

Online? no sliver members can't play online , you have to pay for that , but that's the only thing that you have to pay for , everything else is available for silver members including the marketplace (just in case you don't know silver members are the ones with free online accounts , gold members are the guys who are paying)

Gears of War if you liked RE4 (even though the first one is on PC the second one is exclusive for 360, at least for now) , it was the first game to "copy" the over-the-shoulder-camera. i REALLY recommend that you pick up Left 4 Dead , it has 4 online multiplayer and and a singleplayer offline mode where you play with Ai's , you can also play with a second person as well in split-screen,deff check it out oh and good choice on picking up DR best Zombie game EVER. i also highly recommend Condemned 1 and 2, the second one can easily be named one of the best horror game ever. and of course Dead Space, the only game besides Condemned 2 that almost made me crap my pants , the sound is mind blowing and will keep you on the edge of your seat, and that's it for now oh and ignore anyone who recommends Halo 3 , avoid it like a plague .

Exactly HOW is it cheaper when the PS3 is usually *in the UK* double or 3 times the price of a 360?

^ If think he means that with the PS3 you don't have to pay for online play, but you do for Xbox 360 if you want Xbox Live Gold.

                    *shrug*

I really think it's a simple matter of taste and preference. And which console exclusive games you want, of course.

                      Likewise,

Anyway, I know how to spot Jasper motherboards in the 360 arcade boxset *check the contents, if it doesn't come with a memory card its obviously got the 256mb memory in the actual chipset*.

Anyone know if the 60gb boxset or the Elite has been given the new motherboard yet?
Getting one tomorrow for christmas *finally after putting it off*

^ Yes they do. I got an Elite a few months ago and my Dad checked to see if it did, so I guess they are making them with the new motherboards.
                        :]

360 is the way to go. PS3's are a lot more expensive, however you have to pay for the online adapter and for XBL on the 360. But generally I find XBL a much better service, and the 360 a much more fun console. More exclusives for me on the 360.
