I've been playing the FEAR 2 demo on PS3. I really liked it!

I never got the first game because I read that the PS3 version was a terrible port. I had no intentions of getting F2 but the demo has put the game on my radar...

It's a solid FPS with some Fatal Frame/Silent Hill type inspirations thrown in. I found it more enjoyable, interesting and appealing than a LOT of other FPS I've played. First impressions are great!
But yeah, what was with the mech-suit at the end of the demo? It was like I was suddenly playing 'Armored Core'... I'd hope that those sections are limited.
I also experienced some audio glitches, with my guns going 'silent'.

I'll be reading the reviews with interest.

To those experiencing these so called audio glitches where the audio goes mute... are you sure you weren't just standing next to something that just blew up? (Pressure tanks, cars, rockets, grenades, etc...) This usually renders you partially deaf for a good few seconds (by design)

As for the mech suit, it's awesome.

It's obviously there 'cuase the power armors weren't playable in F.E.A.R. and Monolith really needs to do something with their overflowing desires for making more hot robot action (as they haven't really been able to go there since Shogo in 1998)

I'm probably about halfway through my gameplay of the first game. I'm not going to lie, this game has really given me the creeps since that damn Licker jumped through the interrogation room window in RE2, lol.

I'm not really good with shooters, but I can't wait to finish the first and start on the next one.

          Now that you mention it...
That could have been it. I did consider that might be the reason but other games have done a similar thing but add ringing in your ears or still have sound but really muffled. There was no sound from my guns but I still heard occasional gunfire which confused me.

Are you playing the PS3 version? If so, is it as bad as what some people make it out to be?
I was put off when I read how inferior the PS3 version was (the first game). But I might pick it up if I see it real cheap.

No, I don't think it's that bad at all. I've had a lot of fun with it and it offered a few good scares. Do check it out if you get the chance.

I'm thinking about picking it up, especially that I was lured in by a 10% discount so I'll end up paying $53.99 CAD (that's $43.51 USD). Reviews rarely mention glitches, so have any of you know or heard of game breaking glitches?

Nope, I just had one of the level designers confirm that it was indeed a bug in the PS3 demo. Audio is lost completely sometimes when you're being fired at. Someone decided to add one last sound sample before getting the demo up, and that blew the sound memory out.

Luckily, that's not the case in the retail version.

Since I don't have a 360 anymore, I admit that it was a bit of a risk picking up a PS3 version of a game developed by a PC centric developer. Luckily, it's not bad at all.

The main differences I've found between the console versions were the loading times (shorter on the 360), more audio options on the PS3 (LPCM), and the frame rate. Neither is perfectly smooth, but the PS3 does stutter a bit more. Everything else is pretty much identical.

I just got out of the facility so I'm still pretty early on, but so far so good.

I still want it but I'll probably hold off for a while...
In the next couple of weeks I've got 'HotD Overkill' and 'Killzone 2' coming. Then of course, there will be nothing but RE5 for a time.

Hopefully it might be a bit cheaper in a month or 2.
