The demo is good but maybe just a tad underwhelming. But I only had a quick go, so I'll play it more today and might change my mind.
I guess with all the hype and incredibly amazing screen shots, I was expecting to need a change of underwear after playing it for the first time but (sadly) that didn't happen.
The graphics are HOT and I was impressed with the AI but it's all over in about 5 minutes. I think the game contains a lot of subtle enhancements over similar games, which are not necessarily picked up in 5 minutes of play.

The operatic music with slow-motion, bullet riddled bodies, at the end of the demo was sweeeeet!

@MissValentine, Shellshock was one of my favorite Vietnam war games. I thought it was great! "Hey, I kill you G.I.!!!"

I really don't see why KZ2 being good or bad is a direct reflection of the PS3's worth.
And I don't see why there should be a KZ2 vs Fear2 debate. I enjoyed both demos and will probably get both games. Although, they don't seem to have a whole lot in common besides being FPS.

I got my (promo) copy of Killzone 2 yesterday so I want to say a few words about it, I have only played for about one hour but I am happy with the game so far, it is very dark and "gritty" just the way I was hoping it to be.

I received Resistance 2 as well and it was fun but KZ2 is hands down better, it's faster and more intense, as I said I haven't played very far but I don't see the action getting less intense later on in the game.

No install are needed, however sometimes you get a LOADING screen popping up for a second, thankfully not in the middle of a firefight. Graphics are great, thought the framerate isn't perfect but nothing that will make you enjoy the game any less.

I haven't decided if I should play KZ2 some more today or if I should go for FEAR 2 that I am currently playing (or give BH2 another go for the 1000th time) decisions decisions. //Kim

I noticed a couple of times in the demo, the game kinda froze for a second, while I presume data was loaded. I found that a bit annoying.

There's a tv show here in Australia called 'Good Game'. They reviewed it last week. One guy gave it a 9.5 and the other gave it an 8 (his main complaint was that enemies hid behind cover and didn't let him shoot them )
They showed glimpses of various levels and it just looked incredible!

I'm killing time today by playing through Bio4 again. I might also play some original Killzone to prepare myself for tomorrow...

killzone 2 is pretty much the reason why i bought a ps3 well and the bluray of course everything else is pretty a replica of other games(except little big planet and MGS4). Killzone is freakin BADASS right i mean WOW i would give killzone 2 like a 9.5 for the gameplay 9.8 for the super graphics (the reason i didn't give it 2 more points is because they did kinda lower the graphics a tweensy bit) and last but not least 10 OUT OF 10 for all the effort they put in this game it really paid off. sony is fighting back against microsoft little by little, if only sony improved their online play but other than that! Killzone 2 your right up there with gears of war 2 freakin congratulations SONY!! whoop whoop!

I must say that KZ2 is a pretty sweet game Skunky. I actually thought about that to but I have not found a option to install, so I think we will have to live with these very brief loading screens.

Yeah the AI seem very good, they enemy hide and run and group up on you all the time so planing your moves is a good idea, I kinda like to go out all guns blazing but this is not an option all the time as these guys are smart and I will end up dead if I try my Rambo/Arnold stunts on them;).

I actually played Killzone for the ps2 instead, I remember that game pretty well and it is good fun but after playing it again I also remember not liking the framerate that often drop very low, thought it didn't stop me from playing trough the game all those years ago.

hellrizer I agree with MGS4 being one of the reasons to own a ps3, that is actually the only reason I bought mine but it seem KZ2 is a pretty big reason for other people to consider buying one as well, one game is not really enough to buy a expensive system for (even if I did it but I am a big MGS fan). //Kim

Yeah, last night I played through various levels of the 1st game. It was the first time I've played it since getting my HDTV. I was glad to see it supported wide screen and I gotta say the game still looks great! I know it's only 5 years old, so it's not ancient but it still looks and plays really good IMO. It still holds its own by todays standards and I had a lot of fun revisiting it.

I've just spent several hours on KILLZONE 2.
It's awesome! I mean WOW!
Resistance 2 is good in its own way (although, I actually preferred the original) but KZ2 is a whole class above it. I'm still constantly being surprised at the depth and pure awesomeness of it! It's almost as if it's a PS4 game or something (or better yet, a demonstration of what more PS3 games should look like).
I played through the first 4 levels and had a mess around on 'skirmish' mode (that's the multi-player levels but for offline play using bots). I'm so glad they included it, because I don't play online much but that lets me enjoy it by myself.
As impressive as the environments of the multi-player maps are, I think the highlight for me will be the single player story mode. It's just incredible and the atmosphere and inhospitable feeling of the Helghan world, is like nothing else. I am blown away!!!
And that opening movie has got to be among the best computer generated animation that I've ever seen. It really shows just how amazing something can look on a big HDTV.

I'm just having a break before plunge back into it.
IMO, this game has already lived up to the hype.
It ROCKS!

yeah i loved Shellshock, i played that game so much, ive never meet anyone else who's played it other than me though. i finished that game 100%

ayways, back on topic it seems Hitler discoverd Killzone 2.

i think one of my brothers is buying Killzone 2 soon, so ill play it when he gets it.

Oh, Shellshock 2 is utterly shameful apparently. Reviews across the board have been comparatively negative, and the gameplay footage I've seen only confirms it. Poor textures, poor lighting, it just looks terrible. I'm sure it plays badly too.

damnit, i haven't really looked into Shellshock 2 much. but maybe it will still turn out good, the first didn't get great reviews either, i hope the second is good.
