Given the various reviews and opinions I've read, all this sounds like a personal point of view, particularly the selective mentioning of one review.
I'll still be there day one though, 'cause I need a reason to use that expensive DVD upscaler.

The default settings look "BLEKGH" to me. I'm looking to change it to the COD4 style controls.

The demo was kinda meh. The game's got a lot of nice effects going and does look nice, and I love the character movement and how the gun feels and such, but the overall art direction is so horrible, and the gameplay is damn generic. Shoot explosive barrels on bridge? O RLY!?

and the part where you blow up the bride was cool, whats not to like about that?
Originally posted by Rock it. View PostI personally love the art direction. It's exactly what I want in a sci-fi shooter, and it is what sets this game apart for me. Also, the multiplayer sounds terrific: 32 players and squad based WITH classes? I'm there. Oh boy, I'm there all day. Let us just hope the classes are more "Team Fortress" then "Call of Duty" in the distinction sense. The only downside seems to be the "you've already done it" campaign and the generic weapons. Other then that, it's without a doubt my "omfg I want ZHAT" game of 2009.

i never even bothered to look into the second one, is it better?

Anyway, personally, I'm mixed about the F.E.A.R. 2 demo. My love for F.E.A:R. (and Monolith) certainly makes me wanna like it, no matter what Monolith has done to it. But one of the complains I've got about the demo is that some of the outdoor stuff is almost too detailed. To the point where it can get a bit too distracting. (Controls better be customizable in the full version too, as they weren't in the 360 demo.) The effects and the amount of destructible surroundings and such, though, makes me think there's plenty to get in F.E.A.R. 2 once the retail version lands in my hands.Last edited by Carnivol; 02-08-2009, 09:49 AM. Huh. That certainly was.... interesting; yeah.. interesting, particularly that I still have family in Chester and London. I suppose the similar complaints in real life I've heard came from current Europeans disguised as Asians, Canadians, and Americans because they didn't sell their PS3's and equipment they don't use. I should ask people if they're European if similar conversations come up generally
Trying something gives your opinion validity for sure, but holding one to something when it depreciates in value and complaining about it is idiotic. It has nothing to do with regional traits, and more with common sense. So I stand by what I said, especially if a console or anything for that matter gets little to no use.

Anyway, if you've got something that's somehow faulty (such as a console with no good games), I'd say openly complaining about it (preferably in a nice and polite manner) is the way to go. You've made an investment, you'd prefer it if that product "delivered", and you'd rather not go through the hazzle of double dipping (and having a dust collector) or getting rid of it to replace it with something else that might not do exactly what you want, or just clutter up your shelf even more.

Thing is, this isn't a faulty console nor is it void of good games, since aside from first party content, there hasn't been a generation in the past where the vast majority of games are multiplatform. I've said it before and I'll say it again, owning both a PS3 and a 360 is pointless when you prefer third party games and don't like one's first party games much.
I had both, and the BD player (still one of the best out there) was the deciding factor for me to keep the PS3. Nothing wrong with the 360 or its first party games of course. The games that I waited on were personal disappointments, and instead of it collecting dust and depreciating, I sold it. No major problems with the hardware's famous malfunctions either. Likewise for the PSP when all the games I bought it for ended up on the PS2 or PS3... which was frankly VERY irritating.
Console purchases aren't exactly blind buys for gamers, so again, what I said stands. Granted, there are SOME out there who collect console hardware but they're a minority.
