running win98 games in XP

  • running win98 games in XP

    my friend recently bought small soldiers for the PC and did not heed my warning about it not working on XP so now he wnats help so he can play it.

    are there any emulators that wll run 98 DOS games?

    just right click the icon then click compatibility tab, then click win98

        Right click on shortcut > Properties > Compatibility tab > Windows 95 compatibility mode > OK

            Might not work then, alot of 95/98 games have to be patched *most of the time unofficially* to work on XP.

            Had the same problem getting Little Big Adventure 2 to work *Yes its somewhat kiddy but LBA1 *sometimes known as Relentless: Twinsens Odyssey* and LBA2 were amazing games back in the day*.
            Had to effectively rip the game, then reburn it *before a mod gets their knickers in a twist, yes I own the games and yes if challenged I can easily produce box art pictures and documentation so therefore I can bloody well talk about it as its my own property* with the patch on the disc, was weird getting it to work.

            Grim Fandango seemed to work fine with the compatibility wizard though.

                Grim Fandango was epic. I never finished it though Anyway, GF was re-released and patched to work with XP and Vista.
