Haven't been following it at all, but that launch trailer is amazing. Went and downloaded the multiplayer trailer on Live...and it looked so bad.
But yeah, that launch trailer? Great stuff. So much so it made me want to play the original. So, having been through a hard time lately, thought i'd treat myself and have started downloading it through Games On Demand on the 360. Probably be the next game i get stuck into now whilst i wait for RE5's DLC.

Yeah, I'm not really....excited for the multiplayer. I'll give it a try since I assume the game will come with a 48 Hour Gold Trial but I'm not expecting to love it. I'm plenty happy with the single player.
Am I the only one here who's not that excited for the sequel? I just think that the first Bioshock game was best as a stand alone, a sequel wont get the full vibe that Ken and the rest of rational studios did with the first. I will most likely buy it, but I'm not going to come in with high expectations.

I think the first game is such a hard act to follow that it will be an enjoyable game, but I can't envision it having such an impact like the first one did. Even if it does have a huge great plot twist, it'll still sit in the shadow of the first game.
Of course, I'd love to be suprised. I've got the collectors edition ordered and will pick it up first thing Tuesday (I'm a sucker for vinyl).

I disagree. Since BioShock is the spiritual successor to System Shock 2 (co-developed by Irrational), the game wasn't really "groundbreaking" to begin with. It was a great game, yes, but the similarities between the two was so palpable to those who played played through SS2 beforehand (the game itself not being well known. In fact, the game could be considered a commercial failure, as it barely sold about a quarter million copies total, and there was most likely a net loss in profit. I'm sure that helped with all the "this game is groundbreaking and revolutionary" comments) that now, looking back on it, the game was almost nothing special in its being a FPS/RPG hybrid, with a system that was no where near as complex and profound as SS2.
Hell, for all I know, people had seen the major plot twist Spoiler:
the revealing of Atlas as Frank Fontaine
coming from a mile away, seeing as how the twist it about exactly the same in SS2, as Spoiler:
Dr. Polito, the woman who guides you throughout more then half the game, is revealed as SHODAN.
Overall, I think they'll do a great job, and the multi-player component looks fun, but when you buy a sequel to a game, do you not expect more of the same and then some?

It was less complex and more streamlined than SS2, but it was groundbreaking for the Xbox 360. For the PC, not so much.
