Much worse textures (they are pretty terrible), worse water effects (somehow most water pools do not reflect most of the environment), worse volumetric lighting (very fake ala 2006 games like this: http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,7...&show=original ), etc
It's very distracting and it's a pity because I enjoy the gameplay.

THIS GAME IS AWESOME. Seriously. I feel stupid for worrying about playing as a Big Daddy, because it looks like he has a pretty interesting story. I can't wait to get further into the game and learn more about this Sofia Lamb character.
Also,
Spoiler:
so glad to see Tenenbaum is still stickin' around Rapture. I wondered what connections this game would have with the original, and there it is.
Playing as a Big Daddy is AWESOME. Big Sisters are AWESOME. I'm lovin' this game so far...just played for almost two hours, giving it a rest and then I'm gonna try some multiplayer later tonight. Overall I'm extremely pleasantly surprised so far, because for some reason, I didn't have high expectations for this game.
EDIT: In regard to what doomed said, I think the graphics are fine. Some textures are pretty bad, but if you let that ruin the overall gaming experience for you, then I dunno what to tell you.Last edited by Vector; 02-09-2010, 11:03 PM.

Yeah, I'm far into it now I think (I just
Spoiler:
)got the key from Holloway and spared her life
But so far... yeah, I'm loving it. The first time I ran into a Big Sister was kind of expected, but since then... the second time scared the shit out of me. XD I was doing what Big Daddies do with Little Sisters, get them home safe after rescuing them (I could never harvest them D: )... The calmness and happiness of the soothing moment with the music and the little girl saying thanks was great... and interrupted by Spoiler:
a horrifying shriek with the notification that a Big Sister was on the way. Her screech is horribly frightening. x_X
Not sure if that's particularly spoiler-worthy, but better safe than sorry. But yeah, so far, I can't really complain about this game much thus far. All the successful elements of the first title are back in with some new tweaks. The new hacking system is a sigh of relief too.

It's been interesting so far. The only issue I've had is, even though I'm not too far into the game, I suspect I know what the shocking twist will be. I just got the Incinerate Plasmid and defrosted the mono rail system, but I suspect;
Spoiler:
Big Daddy is literally the Daddy. Eleanor is your kid literally.
But this is just my suspicion. Do not confirm, minions who can play more.
I like how the initial part of the game quite closely mirrored BioShock one...and then suddenly diverged. That was quite clever. It's also nice to hear those audio messages again. Good fun.

Just played multiplayer for over 2 hours...what a fuckin' blast. I continue to get surprised by how good this game is.
I mainly did Civil War, but I tried some Capture the Sister also. It's so awesome to run into a Big Daddy suit when it spawns, and just go on a massive killing spree. In one game, the suit spawned right in front of me and I finished with 20 kills and 0 deaths. That Rivet Gun is a BEAST, and if you use the proximity mines correctly, along with the melee attack when necessary, you can go for an entire match without dying. So sick.
As for the singleplayer, I really enjoyed
Spoiler:
the "Journey to the Surface" ride in Ryan's Amusements. I stopped and listened to every single stop on the tour. What a trip. Andrew Ryan is one of the more intriguing characters in all of video games. I hope we learn more about Frank Fontaine as the game progresses as well. And also, this Sinclair guy...something fishy about him.
I have a snow day tomorrow(classes canceled), so odds are I'll be playing BioShock 2 all day.

My new phrase is "BUT NO, the parasite [insert horrible opposite of what I want]"
As for class, my school was closed just this evening... which is why I'm up at 3. Going to bed now, getting up tomorrow aaaaand... BioShock 2 as well.Last edited by Canas Renvall; 02-10-2010, 03:11 AM.

For the first few hours it felt very much like an expansion pack, but I feel it came around toward the end. The gameplay is a lot better than the first, but the story isn't that great to be honest, and that's not me comparing it to the first game's story. In general, it's just kind of bad, and it suffers from a lot of things that break many sequels for me.

I'm not in a hurry to get this (but I'd like to eventually). I'll just wait until I find it in a bargain bin for half price, like I did with the first game.
I absolutely loved the original game at first. The intro and setting was fantastic. The atmosphere, graphics, story and game play were all great. I thought "wow, this game deserves the hype". But about half way through I found it lost a lot of the magic.
The illusion of a vast, underwater world was lost as I realized I was still just traversing a series of mostly narrow corridors (like most games). Constantly upgrading all of my weapons and abilities became more of a chore than fun. The hacking and just about everything else in the game, all became a bit routine.
The first few times I decided to start shooting at a 'Big Daddy' I was shitting my pants. It was a very cool and memorable gaming experience but even those encounters became routine (as I hunted down and killed them all). But just watching and listening to the interaction between them and the little sisters was brilliant.
I kept going and finished the game but I was no longer loving it. My final thoughts were that it was a great, well made FPS but a long way from being on my personal list of favorites. However, it's still 'one of the best' FPS that I've played...

So, what ending did everybody get?
Spoiler:
I saved the black lady and the dude at the train station, but I killed Gil Alexander...and I harvested four or five Little Sisters because I was playing on Hard and didn't feel like defending them while they harvested ADAM. There's four different endings, haven't figured out how to get each. In my ending, Eleanor just pulled me to the edge and said she'd miss me. But in the other endings...well, just watch this video, it has all 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5XSHtPSxFw

I got the one
Spoiler:
Where Eleanor basically sucks out your memories and stuff as ADAM and keeps it in her arm. I did the same thing, saved ***** Holloway and Stanley Poole, but killed Gil. However, I didn't harvest a single Little Sister. I just can't bring myself to do it, it's horrible.
Edit: ...Um, is.. that a really bad word/name? G-r-a-c-e...? It auto-censored it.Last edited by Canas Renvall; 02-11-2010, 09:59 PM.
