The title references his deteriorating state; mentally, physically, and in his police status. He's framed, double crossed, left for dead multiple times, and basically shat on by everyone and everything... right down to the ending, which... I wouldn't call vague, but it's not a "happy ending" even in the end where Mona lives - It's just... an ending.
Remedy's moved on from the series... and as usual taking their sweet time on their current game, with Alan Wake on the 360.
I don't like the look of the way this is heading. The first two, right down to the teased images, envoked that idea of pulp novels, noir films, and the modern graphic novel - which is exactly what the game is. This doesn't. But I guess I'll wait and see what they release (probably around E3 time) before making a more clear decision.

I'm sure they will considering "Bullet Time" was an integral part of the gameplay. The problem now is that since Max Payne's released there's an abundance of titles out there now with "Bullet Time" being a key part of their game so Rockstar will have to come up with some interesting take on the method without it feeling old and rehashed, in my opinion anyway.

They were a huge investor into GOD (which Take2 eventually brought outright prior to Max Payne's release, and later folded into it's own company brand and the whole thing is now run by Rockstar). Remedy in the end got the overall development control, 3D Realms produced, and Rockstar published. On the sequel it was just Remedy with Rockstar producing/publishing after swallowing up Gathering.
Remedy could and probably were offered the 3rd title and turned it down instead focusing on Alan Wake.Last edited by Rombie; 03-23-2009, 11:10 PM.

Hmm... Worried how this is gonna turn out without Remedy. The graphics and art side of their games was always a step above whatever else was out at the time. Hell, Max Payne 1 still looks good. I'm a big fan of the GTA series, but Rockstar's strong suit has never been graphics. Not compaired to Remedy anyway. I don't want Max Payne 3 to look like a GTAIV spinoff. It pisses me off that they would make it at all when Remedy are working on another game.

Okay, for starters, you need to complete MP2 on Dead On Arrival difficulty for the good endingDead Man Walking is sorta like a little minigame where you have to survive for as long as possible.
Secondly, either ending completes the Max Payne story.
"I had a dream of my wife. She was dead, but it was alright."
He's learned to live with himself, and accept the consequences of what he's done. In fact, my avatar is Max Payne at this moment when he's finally gotten over his wife and kids' death. The attached pictures explain it a bit better. However, I think these shots were taken when I wasn't getting the good ending, but whatever, I don't think the message changes. He still says the line about his wife, but he's also glad Mona is alive, meaning he can get on with his life knowing she's alright.
The bullet in Mona's head might have been imaginery. She said it herself. Just the thought of it kept her focussed, knowing that she might die at any moment for no reason, so she needs to get done whatever possible before that moment. There was never any confirmation she recieved a life threatening wound in that elevator in MP1 anyway. Mona was well enough to waltz out a few floors up and make her way out of the building before the SWAT teams arrived.
All in all, I think MP3 is just milking the cash cow. MP2 done so amazingly well with the story but I honestly don't think MP3 can replicate that feeling. Remedy is gone, they had the most to do with it. This is just gonna be "OH HE BETRAYED ME WAHWAHWAH BANG BANG HES DEAD WHOS NEXT???!!!ONEELEVEN!!!????" because nobody knows Max Payne himself quite like Remedy does.
Next to that will be the shitty PC port job that Rockstar proved they can do very well at with the release of GTAIV PC, probably the worst performing game on my shelf.
The future looks a little bit dim, unfortunately.Last edited by Helegad; 03-30-2009, 07:04 AM.
