  • RTS's on consoles, what's the verdict ?

So i'm really considering getting the two Command and Conquer series games on thet 360, just wanted to ask if anyone else here has played 'em on it, how easy are the console controls to get used to ? Before this i've only played that AvP game on the PS2, and didn't mind it ..

also, is CnC Kane's Wrath a stand alone game or DLC ?

AFAIK, Kane's Wrath is DLC but on Disk format.
And as far as I've played, RTS on consoles suck, major balls.

It's too hard to control, and can get awfully tedious.
But that's my own interpretation of them, I played the demo fo C&C3...

I haven't really liked C&C since it went 3D, Westwood should bring it back to it's roots IMO.
You have an Xbox right? Download the C&C demo.

Oh right, well, if that isn't too long off, I suggest you wait and see for yourself.

I thought the controls in the demo were a bit wonky, but they weren't impossible to get a hang of. Just required a bit of hands on and practice. Not the best console RTS controls I've used, but still more than doable enough. They're not very "pick up and play," if that's what you're hoping for. Practice is required.

If you had a HDD, I'd recommend grabbing the Red Alert 3 demo and give it a spin, it has a rather nice tutorial. But C&C3 has that too (but I think it was lacking in the demo, don't remember... I tend to skip torturials.)

Kane's Wrath is a stand alone disc on the 360. Does not require the main game to work.

I'll probably be running my way through C&C3 whenever I get around to picking up Kane's Wrath cheap (not in a hurry right now. Don't feel the C&C hunger)

Dunno why you want to pick it up, but if you're just getting an FPS to get a console FPS, I'd recommend going Halo Wars instead. But if there's some C&C hunger inside you that needs to be pleased and your PC just isn't up to snuff; go for it (and consider Red Alert 3 while you're at it too).

i've been a big fan of the series but haven't been able to play the recent one's cuz of my pc being a relic of the mayan civilization and all ... but yeah i might give halo wars a try as well, everyone i've talked to says that it does RTS controls on a console better than any other game.
