  • PS3 exclusive: Infamous

This game is one of the few PS3 games I'm interested in buying. Looks very fun, but almost too familiar. Prototype, much? . Wonder what the story is going to be like? I sure do hope it has a lot of interactions and such and I know the graphics are going to be sweet. Here is a couple a pictures plus a link to gamespot's news when the demo is going to be released. Tell me what you think of it?

Sucker Punch Productions wraps up development on its open-world, open-morality, sandbox-action PS3 exclusive; demo due on PSN May 21, game May 26.

            I've got mine pre-ordered:

I cannot wait, to be honest. Though I must wonder what this and "Prototype" have in common. =P

The core concept behind the two is similar, other than that prototype seems a lot more arcadey where this seems more proper action oriented. Ah well, i guess prototype will have to do for me.

And this topic is for Infamous, not Heavy Rain >_>

Seems quite good. From the impressions on the latest Listen Up, it seems to be progressing quite nicely. After listening, I went from a possible buy to a definite buy.

Concerning Prototype, it seems a bit more like Crackdown. I'm sure that'll be some peoples cup of tea, but its personally not mine. Infamous seems to be a much more guided experience, while all the things I've heard of Prototype make it seem like its just a big sandbox with loose story points.

I guess I also dislike the fact that you can't really play Prototype in a "good" way. It seems like you HAVE to absorb people and such, even if they might be good. That, and the general chaos that fights seem to have, makes it seem like its not really a moral choice story.

Infamous on the other hand has those scripted sequences where you get to choose. I'm hoping its good. I may need to hold off a few days after its release, so if anyone picks it up, please provide some impressions!

Your last two paragraphs have confused me >_> They both talk about Prototype but the tone makes it sound like you're talking about two different games >_>

Anyway, I'm picking up both Prototype and inFamous. Prototype looks pretty gorey and there's been hardly any of that this gen (well, sufficiently. I'm sure Carn will agree with me here) so hopefully Prototype fills that void.

What I've seen of Infamous has been largely electricity based - is there a little more variation in what the protagonist can do?

I've color coded it for you

Basically, my point was that Prototype seems a lot more like a GTA game with super powers. I've kinda had my fill with that genre, so I'd like a much more guided experience, which Prototype seems to fill.

I mostly play games for story, and don't really like it when my gameplay actions don't gel with the characters actions in cutscenes (hello later half of GTA4). At that point, games just begin to sour for me, and after seeing some promo videos for Prototype, it looks like your WWE'ing some cops and such.

elbow diving onto a tank, come on dot, you won't play it just for that ?

The video looked funny, but gameplay like that can only keep me hooked for so long. Story seems to take a back seat in the game (or so the marketing is showing me), so I'm not very interested in it.

Plus, I'm a graphics whore and Infamous looks great for a PS3 game. That, and I'm starving for a new PS3 game to justify my purchase.
